WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Lead Hydrogeologist , reporting to the Mine Water US Team Leader. The position can be based in Phoenix AZ, Tucson AZ, Denver CO, Redmond WA, or Reno NV . Your Impact

  • Lead hydrogeological, geological, and geotechnical studies related to water for the mining sector and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.

  • Provide technical guidance on operational water management, including dewatering studies and operations, and analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling in support of geotechnical stability.

  • Design and manage complex mine water management studies and programs involving the collection of hydrogeological field data and data interpretation/evaluation.

  • Connect between related disciplines such as geochemistry, geophysics, and surface water management, for innovative approaches to meet client needs.

  • Direct and oversee field work programs, including site characterization, drilling supervision, well installation and maintenance, hydraulic testing, and water quality sampling.

  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, analysis, and reporting.

  • Prepare and/or manage technical documents related to investigation plans, testing, findings, and recommendations.

  • Lead and supportproject development and delivery (proposals, project management, client relations, senior reviews, team development and training).

  • Work collaboratively with other senior members of the group to implement the business growth strategy.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with a broad internal and external client base and identify.

  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future-ready solutions for clients.

  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff to support their growth and professional development.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.

  • 7+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in the mining sector.

  • Professional Geologist or Engineer designation, or ability to obtain registration, in the relevant jurisdiction(s).

  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, writing and people skills.

  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, timely, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to evaluate data and identify cost-effective environmentally responsible responses to clients.

  • Ability to interact and collaborate with a wide variety of external clients, subcontractors and third-party stake holders.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a dynamic work environment.

  • Willingness to travel for occasional work assignments.

  • Highly proficient with analytical geology concepts, research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate or higher degree inHydrogeology, Geology, or a closely related disciplined.

  • Knowledge of and significant experience with the Arizona Aquifer Protection Permit Program.

  • Experience in consulting.

  • Strong technical skills, with demonstrated applications of hydrogeological and geochemistry principles, quantitative hydrogeology and/or geotechnical testing.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), GIS, numerical modeling, etc.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and MSHA

This Opportunity

Serve as key member of WSP's Regional Environmental Planning and Permitting Program, with focus on project delivery, client communications, and project staff management. Management and preparation of documentation compliant with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for a variety of project scopes and clients. Specific tasks would include preparing and adhering to scopes, schedules, budgets, completing or overseeing all components of environmental documentation, and managing and mentoring junior staff. Will work collaboratively with Environmental Planning and Permitting leadership and technical staff throughout the Western US, including the Intermountain West, Pacific Northwest, and California. Proven experience with Federal agencies is a requirement; experience with the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security (notably Federal Emergency Management Agency) is preferred.

Your Impact

  • Assist with scoping, strategic planning, and developing permitting execution strategy for clients on medium- to large-sized projects, encompassing development of proposals, including development of scope of work/technical approach, budget, and schedule.

  • Prepare and complete environmental survey reports, data entry, impact assessment, and permitting activities for assigned projects (e.g. Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act permitting, CEQA, NEPA, etc.).

  • Perform professional environmental planning work and conduct investigations, inspections, and environmental studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular environmental problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and/or to plan for future environmental needs.

  • Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams in executing project work, permitting strategy, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory compliance, including project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, and task completion.

  • Provide high level oversite for desk-based research and site work, including measurements, data interpretation, demographics, patterns and trends, and computer modeling.

  • Coordinate with clients, resource/regulatory agencies, and environmental and technical staff in a confident and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.

  • Remain current in latest environmental planning subject matter, practices, regulations, and techniques.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)

  • 7 to 10 years of experience working in the environmental planning field, completing environmental surveys, fieldwork, habitat and construction support, impact assessments, and permitting.

  • Demonstrated experience with NEPA and related federal acts, including Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, etc.

  • Highly proficient analytical skills and prior experience with research techniques, local/regional ecology, habitats, and applicable regulatory zone.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and reviewing environmental planning technical reports, environmental impact evaluations, siting reports, and environmental permit applications and licensing, including field surveys and reporting, and resource and impact evaluations (e.g. commercial, renewable energy, infrastructure, etc.)

  • Established experience coordinating with clients, regulatory permitting and resource agencies, and environmental technical staff required.

  • Highly proficient self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.

  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Serve as key member of WSP's Regional Environmental Planning and Permitting Program, with focus on project delivery, client communications, and project staff management. Your Impact

  • Collect, identify, and compile environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.

  • Participate in developing advanced technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to reduce the volume and toxicity of pollutants, account for the negative environmental impact of industrial facilities, power plants, and transportation vehicles/systems, and allow for greater use of water resources.

  • Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, assist with emission and mass balance calculations, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.

  • Verify the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on various environmental issues, water cycles, and flow to determine the influence of weather and other environmental forces.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.

  • Knowledge of water resource engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.

This junior archaeologist (heritage resource specialist) position will work with senior project managers, senior archaeologists, architectural historians, and other environmental staff to expand existing and new client relationships and contribute to WSP's capacity and reputation in the environmental and engineering marketplace. Compensation will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

Successful candidates will work with environmental and heritage/cultural resources specialists throughout the West. Current and upcoming archaeological project contributions are needed in Arizona, California, Nevada, and New Mexico. The successful candidate should expect upcoming or future fieldwork opportunities in adjacent states as well. These positions are expected to take active roles in conducting fieldwork and supporting the collection and preparation of digital data for reporting of findings. The successful candidate will have experience with various digital data collection software and hardware and expected to contribute to the completion of state appropriate site forms. Experience in the western US is preferred but not required.

Your Impact

  • Performing background research including record searches, literature reviews, and historical documentation syntheses at a variety of agencies across the region.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and stamp is required in at least one state in USA with ability to acquire licenses in other states.

  • 7 - 10+ years of related engineering experience in an EPCM or similar company is required for this position.

  • Knowledge and understanding of how the mechanical and piping engineering activities integrate into a complete project.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
