This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position performs research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.

For current or returning HNTB intern/co-op only.

What You'll Do:

• Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

• Supports the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

• Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.

• Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

• Supports engineering teams with various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

• Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering

What You'll Bring:

• Exhibits an understanding of engineering principles relevant to the discipline.

• Attains knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCad or other software.

What We Prefer:

• Master's degree in Engineering

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

• Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD

The Wisconsin Office Leader is HNTB's chief executive for the Wisconsin market. This individual is responsible for leading and managing the profitability and growth of HNTB's three Wisconsin locations with gross revenues exceeding $45M. The Wisconsin practice is diverse and leadership responsibilities will encompass the focus market sectors including DOT, Toll, Rail/Transit, Aviation, Water and Architecture. This position establishes long-term strategic plans for profitable growth while effectively leading the day-to-day operations of a multi-discipline team of nearly 200 employees. The Wisconsin office has experienced significant over the past 5 years. The successful candidate will be inherit a strong, growing organization with the opportunity to continue the positive momentum and take it to new heights. We are looking for someone with demonstrated advanced business development skills, strong government relations experience, sales accomplishments and experience hiring key talent. Responsible for sales, revenue, earnings, and cash management within Wisconsin.

What You'll Do:

• Responsible for the profitable operation of an office, including business development and revenue generation, client contact, oversight of office operation, cash management and overhead.

• Ensures the achievement of short and long-term goals for operations, workforce planning, financial performance and growth.

• Responsible for marketing the firm's services, acquiring and signing contracts, and serving as the firm's responsible contact with specific clients.

• Directs all activities of the office including budgets, sales, cash management and overhead management.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing construction site field and office support and resources during construction phases of projects. The Construction Rep applies construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assignments and assist the Resident Engineer in partnership with the project team. This position maintains project data, including drawings and specifications, coordinates testing and quality control inspections and prepares reports on construction progress.

What You'll Do:

• Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.

• Assists with construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents. Coordinates and schedules quality controls inspections.

• Observes on-site material testing and coordinates testing and monitoring services.

• Performs mathematical calculations for material quantity payments.

• Performs basic shop drawing review and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.

• Reviews contractor's daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark-ups, documents project progress using video and photos, and prepares reports on construction progress.

• Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions and assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.

• Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• Associates degree in relevant field and 2 years relevant experience, or

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.

What You'll Bring:

• Reads and understands plans and specifications.

• Recognizes, documents, and escalates field issues.

• Calculates pay quantities.

• Understands change conditions.

• Applies basic math skills to projects and tasks.

• Understands the Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills at a basic level.

• Understands document control at a basic level for the project documentation (i.e.: material approvals, RFIs, contractor payments, contractor employment records) with direction from more experienced staff.

What We Prefer:

• National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level 1 or Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT).

• Trained in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite or similar preferred.

• Oversees preparation of independent cost estimates for submitted change order proposals. Provides cost support during Value Engineering Studies and design charettes.

• Creates complex cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares claims analysis and estimates.

• Performs parametric order-of-magnitude estimating by establishing a project's probable cost before any graphical representation of a facility has been developed.

• Analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, bills of material or sample layouts and estimates costs for labor, material and equipment using pricing schedules and historical data.

• Oversees and provides quality control/assurance for quantity takeoffs and cost estimates on complex projects and checks for mathematical and technical accuracy. Serves as the senior finance advisor within the division providing a financial and business perspective to improve management decisions to achieve the business objectives while still maintaining fiscal responsibility. This individual will be intimately familiar with the operation of the business and will keep division, business unit and firm management informed on issues facing the business. Responsible for hiring and providing on-going leadership, mentoring and development of the division business professionals to support office, division and project teams. This position reports to the Division President or the Division Operations Officer and will work closely with, collaborate with and take guidance from the Corporate Finance Director and/or CFO.

What You'll Do:

• Responsible for the preparation of the division's annual business plan and operating budget (including quarterly forecasts). Works with office leadership to manage and coordinate the preparation of office level operating budgets in following the HNTB processes, providing key inputs and ideas. Collaborates with Division Presidents and/or Division Operations Officer in draft reviews and direction on alignment with division strategic plan. Actively participates in budget/forecast presentations to HNTB Corporation and/or Enterprise executive management. Responsible for reporting the business results of the division to corporate and meets regularly and collaboratively with Division Management Team to discuss business and operational issues and report on variances from budget along with other financial analysis. Supports the division from a training standpoint on the budgeting process and brings an analytical perspective to the review process. Works closely with the offices to ensure appropriate Revenue Labor Forecast is done throughout the planning cycle.

• Directs, leads and develops division finance and business professionals to support office, division and project teams. Establishes and maintains a business organization with skilled professionals and functional operational processes to support all business aspects of the division and projects. Includes oversight and management of hiring and attrition of staff, providing day-to-day guidance, support, training, career development and timely feedback. Maintains functional reporting and accountability to the office business managers and project finance staff. Provides oversight of project financial accounting for the division, including providing assistance and guidance to project management, project controls, divisions' offices and senior management.

• Sets and drives the division's strategic cash management goals. Ensure division meets/exceeds cash management goals and adheres to cash management policies and procedures. Manages cash by playing a principal role in the contracting process to ensure appropriate and profitable compensation and payment terms are included and strategically eliminate onerous terms and include accelerated payment terms. Supports should include financial review of contracts, JV partners, subcontractors, and vendors, performing a profitability or gross margin analysis to assess projected outcome and/or historical results. May include negotiations participation. Participates collections issues by interfacing with clients, offices, office leaders, business staff and project managers regularly, and analyzing actual cash flows to forecast and reporting deviations. Partner with Enterprise Operations Cash Management staff, Office Business Managers, and Project Managers for timely management, follow-up, status reporting, and resolution of cash collections and delinquent billings. Is the division liaison with Enterprise Cash organization and fosters a positive working relationship with the group to achieve collaborative results.

• Advises the division and office teams on strategies relating to all aspect of the business and operations and in solving complex issues. Provides leadership in developing best business practices in all functional areas within the divisions' offices and monitors compliance with policies and procedures. Works with offices to provide training in various areas of project business management and operations management. Also, is a resource and may work on division and/or firm wide initiatives or projects in support of firm wide objectives.

• Serves in a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders to protect the value of the firm and to ensure that new value is created. This includes ensuring that all division internal accounting, financial reporting and budgeting/forecasting is completed accurately, timely, efficiently and in accordance with GAAP, company policy and other legal requirements (FAR/CAS); including revenue recognition appropriateness, accuracy of backlog and reserves reporting; and accurate financials via timely job closings. Provides guidance and advises on direction in these areas to division and office leadership teams and to office and project finance staff.

• Involved in the strategic planning process, evaluation of investment opportunities, and involved in providing direction and participating in negotiations for operational contracts. liaison with corporate and involved in many strategic initiatives that supports the firm's growth and profit goal which would include due diligence of acquisitions, leading strategic projects like system conversions, new programs or initiatives, and integration of acquisitions.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or relevant degree

• 10 years of relevant experience and 4 years of people management experience

• In lieu of education, 14 years of relevant experience and 4 years of people management experience
