Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.
Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). We are currently seeking a Resident Engineer II for our Chicago, Illinois, Construction Services team to continue to grow our Great Lakes Division practice. We are looking for collaborative, self-starters with at least 12 years' construction management experience on heavy civil projects such as bridge, roadway, and aviation. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with project team, clients, and contractors.
Ability to anticipate problems and proactively develop solutions to overcome those problems.

Utilizes Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle Business Suite, and various HNTB software applications to perform tasks.
Additionally, this position will serve as Deputy Michigan Office Coordinator, which is a role that acts as a point of contact for employee questions, directs to the proper person or department (HR, HRSC, Payroll, etc) and supports new hire orientation for hires in Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Jackson office locations.
The Deputy Office Coordinator role also ensures proper legal posters are displayed at each location, organizes company events when offered by the firm (Flu shots, bio-metric screening, professional photography, etc), coordinates terminations, distributes packets to departing employee & manager, and tracks and inputs Affirmative Action activities for office, and other duties, as assigned. This will require occasional travel to East Lansing and Jackson for new hire orientation.

What You'll Do:
Assists with and monitors construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, comprehends, and checks for compliance with applicable contract documents.
Performs or observes on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc. and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Reviews contractor's daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark-ups, documents project progress using video and photos.

Performs office engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.

What You'll Do:
Ensures financial integrity and transparency by adhering to and monitoring compliance to internal and external governance requirements (HNTB policies and procedures, Client requirements, Industry standard accounting requirements and Government requirements).
Analyzes contracts, reports, and, key metrics to provide project assessment to team members in areas of budget, profitability, earnings variances, cash flow, and select contract compliance requirements/metrics. What You'll Do:

Leads and/or monitors roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systems. Leads and/or monitors all traffic devices and computer equipment associated with the system.
Maintains advanced knowledge on the operation of all ITS equipment, computers and software associated with the traffic systems.
Utilizes traffic equipment for incident management and the improvement of travel time, safety, and quality of life of the traveling motorists and toll customers.
Continually checks the accuracy and validity of the messages displayed on all DMS and 511.
Aware of all 511 messages broadcasted on a particular system.
