What We're Looking For

HNTB is looking for a dynamic, collaborative, and success-oriented marketing team leader to join our West Division Marketing Team to work with pursuit teams in the development of compelling (and winning!) proposals and presentations. In addition to developing win strategies, the marketing team leader is responsible for supervising a small team of marketing specialists to achieve HNTB's marketing goals. The marketing team leader will oversee the work of other marketing team members and facilitate team training, mentorship, and professional development. This is an immediate opening for a full-time Marketing Team Leader in Los Angeles, San Diego or Santa Ana.

This opportunity entails being responsible for writing/leading proposal and interview preparation for large/complex pursuits. Collaborates with pursuit teams in developing win strategies. Oversees the work of other marketing team members.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for leading team members and assigning daily assignments. Writes and leads qualification packages, proposals and leave behind material pursuits. Collaborates with technical staff and writes, reviews, edits original content for clarity, compliance and key messages.

  • Works with pursuit teams to develop pursuit strategies, including providing business intelligence on clients, competitors and HNTB.

  • Organizes and facilitates pursuit strategy meetings.

  • Supports client service teams by preparing materials for internal and external meetings, as well as participating in client service team meetings.

  • Leads training and education for new hires, continued education and newly identified tools.

  • Provides input on recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including developing a plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Responsible for coordinating schedules and approving timecards.

  • Aids in establishing employees' objectives and provides feedback from clients while coaching and mentoring their team.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business or related degree and 6 year's relevant experience, or

  • In lieu of degree 10 years of relevant experience

What We Prefer:

  • Transportation infrastructure marketing experience (preferred but not required)

  • Quality assurance and quality control of marketing materials/technical documents

  • Experience serving as a supervisor or similar oversight role

  • Strong mentorship and team leadership and relationship-building skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat Pro), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms

  • Excellent verbal and written communications capabilities

  • Proficiency in common grammar, punctuation, proofing and business writing

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse teams towards a positive outcome

  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership in training, execution and implementation of processes and procedures

  • Knowledge of AEC industry, terms, and definitions highly desired

What You'll Do:

  • Provides interpretation of client's goals and programs. Prepares design concepts consistent with client's goals, budget and schedule.

  • Works closely with the project architect and project manager in planning and implementing all work processes in consideration of budgets and schedules. Work includes preparing work plans, estimating hours to complete tasks, developing project reports, managing consultant team members (including coordination and incorporation of all work products) and reviewing invoices.

  • May work in conjunction with Sr. Designers as a part of the design team on larger projects.

  • Presents design concepts to clients and team members.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert on architectural projects of small to medium size and assists on larger projects.

  • Reviews and may provide financial approval of vendor/subconsultant invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance, including DBE and insurance certificate requirements.

  • Obtains necessary approvals and tracks internal workflow status for timely outcomes.

  • Partners with the project team to develop and maintain client and subconsultant relationships and acts as a project liaison to field contract billing questions and/or provide receivables updates.

  • May assist or lead the subcontracting processes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Supports the proposal process, including gross margin analysis, cost proposal development, alignment with the project management system, and client proposal/estimate formats.

  • Performs other assigned duties.

What You'll Need:

  • Associate degree and 2 years of relevant work experience, or

  • In lieu of education, 4 years of relevant work experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Intermediate knowledge of HNTB processes and procedures as well as GAAP accounting rules and uses these rules to advise project teams and project finance team.

  • Proficient in Excel with a strong desire to further develop expertise in advanced features and functions.

  • Effective communicator with the ability to convey information clearly and collaborate with diverse teams, both verbal and written.
