Job Description Summary: The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and other associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.
Preferred Education/Licenses: Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Experience: Must be able to perform all required skills of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

A Day in the Life of a Banfield Veterinary Assistant
The Vet Assistant provides professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times, making sure that clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital. You will use your technical skills on a daily basis, within state practice acts and as outlined in the NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant skills and duties. Other responsibilities include:
. Helping maintain the flow of patients
. Communicating with the veterinarian and vet techs
. Carrying out or setting up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
. Adhering to hospital standards that keep pets safe, and the treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized
. Educating clients about our Optimum Wellness PlansR and the importance of preventive care
. Mentoring other members of the hospital team

The Client Service Coordinator ("CSC") drives the flow of clients and pets through the hospital, maximizes the productivity of the veterinary medical team (in terms of numbers of clients and pets), ensures good communication with associates and clients, and coordinates the care of clients and pets in a happy, welcoming, friendly and efficient manner, influencing clients to return and refer their friends and families.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
. Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
. Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services and route the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team.
. Maximize the number of pets seen by the hospital team through through a productive and efficiently run hospital to support the needs of our wellness plan clients.
. Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes encouraging hospital visits, welcoming clients and pets, ensuring that they are comfortable in the hospital, and educating them about their pet's health.
. Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care, pet health needs and hospital services
. Assist incoming clients by completing the required documentation, entering all pet information and history in the computer, utilizing proper collars and tags for identification, and ensuring prompt service.
. Assist outgoing clients by providing all necessary instructions, information and invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian's instructions, selling retail products and scheduling future appointments.
. Manage the finances by maintaining accurate balances and utilizing proper opening and closing procedures.
. Conduct administrative functions as necessary.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
. Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
. Ability to be confident around pets (i.e., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.)
. Client needs and work volume may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. This position requires special hours including working weekends and evenings.
. Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
. The noise level in the work environment is moderately high.
. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform duties while at hospital.
. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
. Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
. Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances.
. One year related experience required with customer service preferred.
. Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training is preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
. Pay Range for this role is $13.12-22.18/hour. Specific pay rates are dependent on experience, skill level, and education of the candidate, as well as geographic location. Pay rates for salaried positions may differ based on schedule worked.

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: The primary purpose and function of the Shift Lead is to perform the duties of a CSC and/or veterinary assistant/technician, as well as provide continuity and operational support across all shifts, ensuring that the hospital always has leadership onsite to support associates and clients. The Shift Lead will help coordinate and guide the paraprofessional staff and support hospital leadership in maximizing the productivity and profitability of the hospital. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: The ratio of time spent on leadership duties and paraprofessional responsibilities will vary depending on the hospital situation; the Shift Lead must use good judgment in prioritizing their duties on any given day, ensuring hospital productivity. On average, the ratio is expected to be about 20% leadership duties (primarily when the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff are not present) and 80% paraprofessional duties.

Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. Assist incoming clients by completing the required documentation, entering all pet information and history in the computer, utilizing proper collars and tags for identification, and ensuring prompt service.

Partner with Director of Veterinary Quality (DVQ) and Area Chiefs of Staff to operate an effective and productive hospital team, ensure a safe and engaging hospital environment, and improve both the medical quality and business performance of the hospital.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

Create and build a culture of Preventive Care in each hospital ensuring teams understand our foundation and the delivery of Optimum Wellness Plans.
Develop, coach, and support each Practice Manager in assigned market to lead hospital teams so the highest quality care and service is provided to the most pets and clients, maximizing efficiency, productivity, and profitability. This includes developing the skills and abilities of their paraprofessionals by providing clear communication on expectations and performance.
Ensure compliance with all practice protocols, policies, and procedures and with all local, state and federal laws, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates and the maintenance of clean, safe and organized hospitals (i.e., OSHA, Hazard Waste, business permits and assets protection audits). Enforce all Banfield standards, continuously building brand in connection with all medical and non-medical standards.
Responsible for overall hospital leadership and paraprofessional retention within market.
Develop a performance development plan (PDP) and conduct a formal review of each Practice Manager (PM) in market at least once a year; in lieu of a PM in the hospital, develop a PDP and conduct a formal review for each paraprofessional in that hospital.
Create a culture for exceptional engagement and community with market doctors, veterinary technicians, and leaders. Support DVQ and ACOS in maximizing doctor engagement and retention.
Ensure effective execution of OGSM performance including financial results for all area hospitals; partnering with the DVQ to deliver on the quality and compliance KPIs and the quality OGSM.
Own the recruitment, hiring, coaching, supervision and mentorship of PMs, Veterinary Technicians, and paraprofessionals in assigned market.
Support the DVQ in the recruitment, hiring, coaching and supervision of doctors in their hospitals, maintaining LVT school relationship recruiting and outside sourcing.
Responsible for market quarterly inventory and hospital invoice approvals are complete.
Manage effective doctor scheduling and ensure hospital leaders provide effective paraprofessional scheduling to meet the needs of associates, clients and business needs.

Client Service Coordinator SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The Client Service Coordinator ("CSC") drives the flow of clients and pets through the hospital, maximizes the productivity of the veterinary medical team (in terms of numbers of clients and pets), ensures good communication with associates and clients, and coordinates the care of clients and pets in a happy, welcoming, friendly and efficient manner, influencing clients to return and refer their friends and families. Prepare the tre atment room for examination of p ets. Prepare all necessary medical items and supplies (e.g. vaccinations, fecal loops, slides, etc.) for the veterinarian and/or veter i nary technician . Set up fecals, smears, and skin scra pings as allowed by state rules and regulations .
Serve as support to th e Client Services Coordinator , Vete rinary Assistant and Veterinary Technician .
Hold or restrain p ets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
P repare routine in - house laboratory tests (e.g. canine heartworm, feline leukemia, FIV, and canine parvovirus) as allowed by s tate rules and regulations .
Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients. Ensure the comfort of hospitalized patients by "walking", exercising, feeding, and cleaning cages and p et (when approved by the veterinarian or veterinary technician ).
Bathe and di p p ets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions (when advised by veterinarian or veterinary technician .
Clean the surgical suite and instruments.

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The Client Service Coordinator ("CSC") drives the flow of clients and pets through the hospital, maximizes the productivity of the veterinary medical team (in terms of numbers of clients and pets), ensures good communication with associates and clients, and coordinates the care of clients and pets in a happy, welcoming, friendly and efficient manner, influencing clients to return and refer their friends and families.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
. Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
. Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services and route the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team.
. Maximize the number of pets seen by the hospital team through through a productive and efficiently run hospital to support the needs of our wellness plan clients.
. Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes encouraging hospital visits, welcoming clients and pets, ensuring that they are comfortable in the hospital, and educating them about their pet's health.
. Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care, pet health needs and hospital services
. Assist incoming clients by completing the required documentation, entering all pet information and history in the computer, utilizing proper collars and tags for identification, and ensuring prompt service.
. Assist outgoing clients by providing all necessary instructions, information and invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian's instructions, selling retail products and scheduling future appointments.
. Manage the finances by maintaining accurate balances and utilizing proper opening and closing procedures.
. Conduct administrative functions as necessary.
