Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children's Medical Center at Desert has 24 Operating Rooms, which includes 3 trauma rooms, 6 pediatric rooms, 1 cysto suite, 4 minimally invasive and 3 robotic rooms. BDMC/CCMC offers a full range of surgical specialties, including Peds Cardiovascular and Adult and Peds Trauma, Urology, Orthopedics, General, Gynecology, Neurology, EENT, Plastics and Robotics. We are the busiest OR in the valley, fast paced, and performing high acuity cases. In 2017, BDMC/CCMC performed over 21,000 surgeries. Our technologies includes da Vinci Xi robot, NICO, Stealth guided brain surgery. Banner Desert Medical Center is recognized by US News as High Performing Hospital in Procedure/Condition Category. In this position, you will work with a team of doctors, nurses and technicians to help troubleshoot equipment and work alongside a team to complete cases. You will also be responsible for sterilization of equipment, assisting with inventory and assisting with any other requests that may arise during a case.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for facilitating patient safety by assuring safe functioning of Operating Room equipment and by maintaining and overseeing the perioperative equipment management program for the Operating room. Oversees the safe keeping of all surgical equipment. Initiates the coordination of equipment evaluations and staff education as it pertains to new and existing equipment.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs timely troubleshooting and minor repairs or facilitates major repair with designated vendors of all equipment within the department, as well as coordinating timely maintenance of the physical facility with Plant Services.

  2. Serves as first line resource to physicians and staff for equipment troubleshooting in all department specialties, general, ortho, ENT, neuro, peds, robotics, etc.

  3. Functions as part of the OR patient care team in running the cell saver, laser, image guided equipment, video and microscope (balancing, exchanging lenses). Possesses an in-depth knowledge of specialized equipment through certifications.

  4. Maintains appropriate documentation and databases for equipment repairs. Communicates to management, including physicians and staff members, as to the status of the equipment within department on a weekly basis.

  5. Performs safety checks on all equipment prior to patient use. Assures proper electrical load distribution when multiple pieces of equipment are utilized for a surgical procedure in order to ensure safe patient care.

  6. Proactively determines continuing education needs related to new equipment or procedures for all department staff and assists the nursing educator in meeting these educational needs.

  7. Oversees the safe keeping of all surgical equipment to ensure physical security against loss.

  8. Facilitates efficient OR room turnover by anticipating equipment needs. Communicates to management, including physicians and staff members, as to the status of the equipment within department on a weekly basis.

  9. Position has facility responsibility only. Internal customers are other staff, physicians, patients, visitors, vendors, other facilities and external medical facilities. Requires equipment specific certification for proper operation of various pieces of equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Experience typically/normally acquired with 1 year of perioperative or procedural services, biomedical, or comparable experience, which includes knowledge of related equipment and supplies.

Effective organizational, communication and human relations skills are necessary as the incumbent will be coordinating several projects simultaneously and working closely with department managers and all levels of staff and subordinates. Requires strong communications skills; time management, human relations and organizational skills.

The Senior Acute Patient Access Services Representative will support the ED and will be responsible for insurance verification, patient check in, collections and will be an additional extension of leadership. You will ensure demographics are obtained and entered accurately into registration platforms, insurance verification has been done and accurately documented, patient financial estimates and responsibility given and accurately relayed to patient and/or responsible parties. This position is goal oriented. Metrics measured include Accuracy, Productivity (# of patients registered in an hour) and point of service collections. We are a high-volume facility, and this is a very fast paced environment. A strong sense of urgency, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once, along with excellent follow through skills are required.

Schedule is Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6PM-630AM and may include some holidays and or On Call.

You will enjoy an extra $1/hour weekend shift differential for all weekend hours, and an 18% night shift differential for hours after 7pm (if applicable).

All Acute Patient Access Services new hires are required to attend New Hire Orientation & PAS New Hire Training beginning on their start for approximately 1-3 weeks and can run Monday - Friday standard daytime business hours (regardless of your hired shift/hours).

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is the first point of contact at healthcare facilities and assist patients with the administrative aspect of gaining access to medical treatment.   1. Verifies patient's demographics and accurately inputs this information into EHR, including documenting the account thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s).

  2. Proficiency with multiple services including, but not limited to inpatient, observation, emergency, obstetrics, surgery, imaging. This position may cover services 24/7.

  3. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of insurance guidelines for all services. Proficiently verifies, reads, and understands insurance benefits.

  4. Demonstrates proficient understanding that this position creates the first impression for our patient's experience with Banner Health. Demonstrates a positive patient experience through interactions and effective communication.

  5. Proficient understanding of payer authorization guidelines. Accurately submits timely notification according to insurance guidelines using various systems to reduce/eliminate denials. Consistently meets all registration related key performance indicators as determined by management.

  6. Obtains federal/state compliance information, consents and documentation required by the patient's insurance plan(s). This includes a thorough understanding of accurately completing hospital-based compliance forms required by CMS. Uses multiple computer applications proficiently.

  7. Consistently discusses financial liability with the patient(s) and/or families that includes: collection in full of patient liability, assisting patient in applying for Banner Line of Credit, setting up payment plans and/or assisting patient with Banner Financial Assistance policy/application.

  8. Provides a variety of patient services and financial services tasks. May be assigned functions such as transporting patients, training new hire employees, recapping daily deposits, posting daily deposits, or conducting other work assignments of the Patient Access Services team.

  9. Works independently under regular supervision and follows structured work routines. Works in a high-volume, fast paced, clinical environment which requires to ability to be adaptable, critical thinking, and independent decision making and to prioritize work and ensure appropriateness and timeliness of each patient's care. Assists in overseeing the workflow for the given shift. Acts as SME for PAS staff including disseminate and communicating education materials and updates. Assists with escalations as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED is required.

Must have customer service skills or knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services or insurance industry experience processes normally acquired over three or more years of work experience.

Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Requires strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of audiences. Strong knowledge in the use of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, database software, and typing ability are required.

This position demonstrates accountability for operating room readiness ensuring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies are complete and ready for a procedure prior to the preceding patient leaving the operating room. Responsible for the proper care and handling of all general and specialty instrumentation including the cleaning, decontamination, disassemble/reassemble, quality assurance, instrument identification, set assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instrumentation for PeriOp Services, hospital departments, and clinics.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides decontamination and sterile processing support to PeriOp Services, ED, ICU, hospital wide departments, clinics both on and off campus, and ambulatory surgery centers. Provides various levels of service for the management of sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable patient care supplies. Support may-or-may-not include, decontamination of surgical instruments, assembly/sterilization, sterile instrument storage, partial or complete case cart support, OR core tech support and high-level disinfection.

  2. Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments following established protocols, instructions for use (IFU) as well as performs required quality assurance, repairs, reassembly, documentation, sterility handling, and storage of specialized surgical instruments. Maintains required sterilization logs and quality assurance records relating to all equipment associated for the purpose of decontamination, HLD disinfection, and sterilization.

  3. Ability to interpret the surgical schedule and medical terminology as it pertains to scheduled procedures requiring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies needed. Able to address and communicate special needs to minimize delays to surgery. Responds to emergent calls from the Operating Room and performs preliminary investigation. Determines priority level of instrumentation requests and other hospital needs. Directs services in a competent and professional manner while assuring OR priorities are completed in a timely manner.

  4. Able to differentiate surgical instrumentation that is surgery owned, consignment/loaner, hospital depart, surgeon, ambulatory surgery center, and clinics both on and off campus. Completes necessary tracking of surgical instruments with a paper log sheet or computer process for instrumentation leaving the area. Reports needed replacement of surgical instruments to maintain the inventory and support readiness of sets.

  5. Utilizes specialized equipment for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation according to the device and equipment manufacturer's recommendations and hospital policy. Operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers of various sizes with the potential of operating ethylene oxide sterilizers where available. Operates automated surgical instrument washers, ultrasonics, flush pumps, and cart washers to include high-level disinfectors where supported.

  6. Operates various quality assurance testing equipment associated to flexible endoscopic scopes, transesophageal ultrasound probes, and electro-surgical insulation defect detector for laparoscopic and energy provided surgical instrumentation. Utilizes heat detection devices to allow steam sterilized surgical instrumentation to be released for use without risking burns to staff and patients. Operates demagnetizers of stainless-steel instruments for ophthalmic and delicate cardiac surgical instrumentation for safe use on patients. Utilizes various borescope devices to inspect inner channels of lumened surgical instrumentation and flexible scopes.

  7. Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices. Staff follow protocols for proper donning of personnel protective equipment (PPE) while completing the decontamination process referencing IFU's supplied by the manufacturers.

  8. Maintain flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed, maintain a work record of regular attendance, timely arrivals, and departures, maintain professional appearance appropriate to position and function.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Must have mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate and reassemble, problem solve incomplete trays and missing instrumentation and have effective organizational, communication and human relation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Complete national certification as an SPD Technician within two years of hire.

At the Banner University Transplant Institute, our experienced physicians and support teams care for patients in need of kidney, pancreas and liver transplants, and provide comprehensive care to people with advanced liver disease

As a Medical Assistant on this team, you will be an integral part of the patient's Banner experience looking to provide each person with the best customer service and patient care. You will greet patients, obtain vital signs and room them with a medical history intake completed. Also completing an after visit summary and discharging patients and cleaning the rooms. Work with the multidisciplinary team of providers, RN's, social workers and PCC's (patient care coordinators) to provide care to our transplant patients either kidney or liver and in all phases of their care. This can include calling patients with medication changes or other messages from the provider, sending in proposals for refills, and some other admin tasks.

Uncertified Medical Assistants will be considered and will have 12 months to become nationally certified once employment begins. Uncertified Medical Assistants will have access to Medical Assistant certification study material and Banner will pay for the cost of certification. A passing score would result in a pay increase due to an MA's newly certified status.

This is a full time (40 hours/week), day shift position: Monday - Friday either 730-4 or 8-430 depending on needs of the clinic, assisting our providers and RN's to care for our liver or kidney transplant patients. Mostly administrative work with lab retrieval, lab order entry, medication updates, referral follow up, imaging follow up, scheduling. Some clinic coverage may be needed as we do have clinics 5 days a week. This would include rooming/vitals, phone calls, relay of lab results and med changes, lab order entry into Sonora Quest/Lab Corp, vaccine administration. Would prefer at least 1 year of prior MA experience in GI, end stage kidney disease office, transplant clinic. You will get to help patients have a second chance of life with a transplant, the team all collaborates well and are eager to teach so it is a good learning environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.

  2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKG's. Acts as chaperon as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.

  3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.

  4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.

  5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.

  6. Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas. Medication ordering and tasks related to all medications (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).

  7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts.

  8. This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.

  9. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers. This position interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with physician's offices in order to report, ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use. BLS certification required. The Progressive Care Unit on 4CD will serve patients with medically complex needs. The vast majority of the patients in the PCU require continuous cardiac monitoring.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides direct care to psychiatric patients working under the direction of a registered nurse.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides basic nursing care to patients including technical monitoring, taking vital signs and physical care. POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides leadership for an admitting/registration team. Conducts registration and obtains financial reimbursement for all patients accessing service at medical facilities. Performs financial counseling when appropriate. As the Preop and PACU RN, you will have the responsibility to plan, direct organize, coordinate and implement all nursing care services for the pre-op and post-surgical patients in a manner consistent with our mission statement. You will work within both pre-op holding and a post-anesthesia care unit, where patients are cared for and monitored. This care includes monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and respiration, as well as managing the pain and nausea that often follow anesthesia.

POSITION SUMMARY

Banner Boswell Medical Center is in Sun City, AZ and has been the anchor of community health for over 40 years specializing in diseases of the elderly. The Emergency Department (ED) primarily cares for adults in need of emergency services. Pediatrics are also treated and either discharged home or transferred to an accepting pediatric center.

POSITION SUMMARY

Sets up, prepares patient and assists with patient exam and minor surgical or health procedures within scope of training such as, but not limited to: lumbar punctures; sterile instrument and field preparation, suturing lacerations, chest tube insertion, closed fracture reduction, gastric lavage, pelvic examinations, restraint application, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Applies orthopedic devices, to include pre-manufactured and plaster splints under physician direction.

  3. Performs specimen collection, ensuring accuracy in identification and integrity by using appropriate techniques for all age criteria as required by Lab.   6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient's record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.
