This position will be at the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute and Concussion Clinic located at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. Whether you have back pain, joint issues, torn ligaments or a complex fracture, we treat all injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Our doctors use advanced surgical and minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain and get you moving.

As a Medical Assistant on this team, you will be an integral part of the patient's Banner experience looking to provide each person with the best customer service and patient care. When assisting patients directly, you will be rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with procedures, and updating patient electronic medical records accurately and timely. When not providing direct patient care, you may also provide additional support to our office/administrative staff throughout the clinic. This could include answering phones, checking in patients, scheduling appointments, following up with referrals, ordering supplies, stocking rooms, etc. Uncertified Medical Assistants will be considered and will have 12 months to become nationally certified once employment begins. Uncertified Medical Assistants will have access to Medical Assistant certification study material and Banner will pay for the cost of certification. A passing score would result in a pay increase due to an MA's newly certified status.

This is a full time, day shift, Mon-Fri 8:00AM-5:00PM

Location: 755 E McDowell Rd., 2nd Floor, Phoenix. Also requires travel to other two locations: 4200 E. Camelback Phx, and 7400 N Dobson Scottsdale. Will require AZ fingerprint clearance card.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience. Possible Restriction in Cerner- Can do everything but place orders, prescription refill.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.

  2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKG's. Acts as chaperon as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.

  3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.

  4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.

  5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.

  6. Monitors inventory including medication, immunizations (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).

  7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts. Follow any project within scope established by PM or supervising MA.

  8. This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.

  9. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers. This position interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with physician's offices in order to report, ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family to changes in health status

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

An Uncertified Medical Assistant will be placed in this position up to, but no more than 12 months from date of hire in order to obtain certification. Certification must be completed from one of the following agencies: Active Medical Assistant certification such as: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current membership from National Health Career Association (NHA) (Test administered after 7/1/2017 only) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT).

Certification for BLS is required.

Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.

Employees working at BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. This is a requirement of the Whole Family Counseling Program held at this specific facility.

Employees working at Banner Scottsdale Sports Medicine, second floor must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.

  2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKG's. Acts as chaperon as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.

  3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.

  4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.

  5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.

  6. Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas. Medication ordering and tasks related to all medications (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).

  7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts.

  8. This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.

  9. This position works under the direct supervision of the providers. This position interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with physician's offices in order to report, ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use. BLS certification required. Active Medical Assistant certification such as: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current membership from National Health Career Association (NHA) (Test administered after 7/1/2017 only) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT).

The RN Operations Support Specialist (ROSS) plays a key role in supporting quality patient care and sustainability of best practices through clinical expertise. The ROSS will assist in providing clinical guidance and oversight, championing Banner Policy & Procedures, new implementations, supporting optimization of workflow and clinic processes, PRN onboarding and training needs, as well as be responsible supporting the operations leaders with Primex, including excursion management.

This role is Monday-Friday, typically 8-1630. No weekends, holidays or call. The BUMGP ROSS will be centrally based at BUMCP but may travel between the BUMCP campus, the surrounding and off campus clinics including, but not limited to Arcadia and Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale.

This is a full time (40 hours/week), in-person/face to face salaried, day shift position where great interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work autonomously are of the utmost importance. Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix is proud to be a Magnet facility, Academic Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center and Designated Stroke Center. The Cardiac Treatment Center is a 16 bay -procedural- unit. As an RN you will prep and recover Cath Lab and EP Lab and all interventional radiology outpatients. You will care for a variety of patients including cardiac and peripheral stents, pacemakers, EP studies, ablations, and ICDs. Our unit also does TEE's and cardioversions for outpatients and inpatients not in the ICU's.

High acuity Invasive Cardiac and Electrophysiology Procedure pre and post unit (PACU). Preps and recovers invasive cardiac procedures, structural procedures, EP procedures, IR procedures and medical imaging procedures. We are the groin management and sheath experts of the facility. RN will pull sheaths and perform manual holds to the artery. Recovers patients from sedation and general anesthesia. Administers sedation and manages the patients intra-TEE and DCCV. Holds STEMI patients and inpatients if specialized care is needed. Follows and contributes to all Banner Health Strategic Initiatives. Some administrative duties are required in this role.   6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient's record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.

  7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.

  8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.

Researches clinical data necessary to complete and maintain prior authorization, and interfaces with prescribers to ensure that referrals are complete and include all necessary clinical and demographic information.   2. Performs test claims to determine copayment/coinsurance amounts, with applicable patient assistance programs. Understand copays, formularies and special pricing to ensure claims are adjudicated correctly and adjustments are performed when applicable.

  3. Builds and maintains strong relationships with patients, and serves a primary point-of-contact throughout the duration of therapy. Educates the patient about coordination of benefits and plan of care.

  4. Obtains applicable financial resources, such as patient assistance and foundation grant support, to assist in covering the patient's portion of therapy. Interfaces with revenue cycle to establish payment plans, when necessary, and coordinates communication with the patient regarding patient financial responsibility.

  5. Documents coordination of benefits and plans of care in pharmacy applications, and communicates to stakeholders as needed to ensure optimal medication therapy. Partner with others to handle and resolve escalated issues when appropriate and act urgently when necessary.

  6. Input orders efficiently with attention to detail, includes order entry, billing, crediting, and updating medical records. Meet departmental standards for production and quality improvement strategies, schedule adherence as well as participate in training and self-development opportunities when appropriate.

  7. Attends to customers and answers telephones in a courteous and timely manner. Serves as a liaison between the customer the pharmacists, physicians, and third party members. May also take requests for prescription refills and obtain necessary prior authorizations.

  8. Works with various parties such as third party payers, providers, and other pharmacies while providing proper documentation for adjudication discrepancies or to obtain prior authorizations when needed.

  9. This position services patients referred to an outpatient pharmacy service line, but has no role in the clinical aspects of the patient management program. Internal customers include but are not limited to employees, patients, and management at the local, regional, and corporate levels. External customers include but are not limited to, practicing physicians, vendors, and the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and knowledge typically attained with acquiring a Pharmacy Technician License. Current and unrestricted licensure is required.

As a Financial Analyst Consultant the majority of the assignments will center on Healthcare Data Analysis, Month End Close duties, some Proforma support, and potentially Clinical Program Reporting. Location: The primary location is Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix, 1111 W McDowell Road, Phx, Az 85006. This is a remote hybrid role. During training 3 days per week in office, after training 1-2 days per week in office.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides analytical support for the financial positioning and future growth of assigned area/region. This position leads in the development, analysis, and preparation of financial plans, reporting and key performance indicators to achieve overall system and entity strategic goals and objectives.

The Intensive Care Unit is comprised of 24 beds at Banner Estrella Medical Center (BEMC) caring for the highest acuity patients in the facility. BEMC is a Level 4 Trauma Center servicing Southwest Phoenix and surrounding areas. As an RN for ICU you will be caring for Cardiovascular patients including post Open Heart Surgery, Acute Neurological/Stroke, Surgical, Medical/Renal, and Pulmonary patients. Nurses on this unit are given additional training to be able to care for patients on ventilators, vasoactive drips, CRRT, Rotoprone, Targeted Temperature Management, IABP, and Impella.

This position is a full time night shift, working 3- 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am. Part time opening is also available. POSITION SUMMARY
