GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, performs all clerical business functions in a medical office, clinic or ambulatory setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1.High school graduate or G.E.D required.

2.Medical Terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding experience required.

3.Computer/typing skills of at least 40 wpm.

4.Medical secretary, medical assistant program graduate or medical office experience (minimum of one year) required.

5.Legible handwriting.

6.Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact effectively with patients and families, physicians and office staff. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the patient care situation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

2.May experience mental strain due to fast paced environment and directions from multiple sources.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Secures, completes and verifies all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information (registration process) and enters data into computer.

Performs initial telephone triage/screening with referral to appropriate medical professional.

Schedules patients following established protocols, including referrals, testing, surgical procedures, specialist consults, etc. following physician orders. Assures referrals are insurance-appropriate.

Collects point of service co-pays and payments on account, balances cash drawer and ensures accuracy of bank deposit.

Sets up and organizes patients charts, obtains appropriate consent forms, and maintains file system for confidential patient records.

Reviews visit data, determines appropriate ICD-9 code from physician documentation and verifies CPT code. Enters data into computer system.

Enters appropriate billing charges into computer; retrieves data and runs reports as necessary.

Performs some patient care duties. (see department addendum)

Documents appropriate information in patient medical record.

Manages office supply and inventory needs.

Performs receptionist and file clerk duties, as well as, general office correspondence duties.

May be required to float based on staffing needs.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for the organization including those for patient assessment and transfer. The primary function of this job, based on hiring tier, is to be available and flexible to float to various departments, and sites throughout the markets within the organization to provide patient care, which could include but not limited to scheduling day of staffing, more than one assignment location within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns. The Radiology Tech performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Tech is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.

Essential Functions

  • Safely performs provider-ordered radiographic examinations, including proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizingappropriate radiation protection.

  • Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism.

  • Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment.

  • Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patient specimens and run point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for BSMH (Bon Secours Mercy Health) providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required.

  • Directs and practices sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination of disease.

  • Reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments, or repairs of equipment to supervisor.

  • Other duties include ordering supplies, lab, and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

In compliance with BSMH policy and procedures and in addition to providing professional interpreting services (remotely or in person) between speakers of two different languages, the Senior Interpreter is trusted with the responsibility of supporting patients and/or families with cultural and linguistic needs.   • Assists with varying departmental activities and special projects as requested by department's leadership.

  • Accurately interprets from a source language to a target language for patients, staff, and families via Video Remote Interpreting (VRI), Over the Phone Interpreting (OPI) or Onsite as needed.

  • Identifies and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices or behaviors, appropriately rendering messages from one language to another accurately, without omissions and additions; all while maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible in order to facilitate effective communication.

  • Interprets using the consecutive and/or the simultaneous (if explicitly requested) mode of interpretation.

  • Demonstrates cultural competency in dealing with patients, staff and all those being served.

  • Able to travel to local area facilities as designated and as needed.

  • Maintains timely and complete data, information and follows BSMH Language Services processes as requested.

  • Adheres to strict guidelines from the National Standards of Practice and National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care.

  • Performs sight translation reading aloud documents in a language other than that in which they were written.

  • Provides cultural mediation to assist in patient care.

  • Follows ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information and maintain client confidentiality pursuant to protocols established by the contract, HIPAA, and industry standards.

  • Informs manager about patients' concerns or needs for follow up /guidance.

  • Supports the onboarding and orientation process of new interpreters, as needed.

The Radiology Tech performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Tech is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.

Essential Functions

  • Safely performs provider-ordered radiographic examinations, including proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizingappropriate radiation protection.

  • Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism.

  • Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment.

  • Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patient specimens and run point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for BSMH (Bon Secours Mercy Health) providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required.

  • Directs and practices sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination of disease.

  • Reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments, or repairs of equipment to supervisor.

  • Other duties include ordering supplies, lab, and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the operation and testing of washers and/or disinfectors, steam, and hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilizers, and other facility specific equipment and instrumentation.

The Leader of Spiritual Services promotes the Mission of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) through the development and implementation of a continuum of spiritual care services which align with the Professional Standards of Chaplaincy and the BSMH Standards of Excellence in Spiritual Care. The Director is responsible to develop, organize, and manage department activities pertaining to the provision of Spiritual Care within the Greenville Market.   • Leads, directs and manages the Spiritual Services department in a manner which best utilizes the professional skills of chaplains with a variety of clinical competencies.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Under the direction of a Licensed Professional (e.g., Physician or Nurse Practitioner), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifying and determining the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care. The LPN coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Radiology Tech performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Tech is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.

  • Safely performs provider-ordered radiographic examinations, including proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizingappropriate radiation protection.

Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

  • If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)

BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Experience:

  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)

  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required)

Job Summary

The Anesthesia Tech will perform various patient care, safety, and technical duties to support anesthesia and nursing teams in surgical and procedural areas. The Anesthesia Technician responds to patient-specific needs including blood, medications, supply, and equipment during the surgical procedure. This position is an active member of the Anesthesia OR emergency response/code team and assures all emergency safety equipment is available and in working order.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with anesthesia and other supplies as needed, medication management within scope of practice as directed by anesthesia and pharmacy.

  • Organizes anesthesia supplies &/or equipment to ensure availability. Responds to needs of anesthesia providers.

  • Cleans and disinfects instruments, high level disinfection and processing.

  • Assists with patients at risk for malignant hyperthermia and other duties within scope.

  • Performs anesthesia machine testing and support in various areas throughout the hospital.

  • Performs patient identification procedures to ensure proper delivery of blood products and medications.

  • Operates surgical equipment under the direction of a licensed provider.

  • Ensures all Operating Rooms, and pre/post rooms are adequately stocked with appropriate quantity of supplies and required equipment.

  • Ensures Operating Rooms, procedure and pre/post rooms are cleaned and prepared for the next patient to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Cleans equipment and implements infection control policies to support the anesthesia practices in surgical and procedural areas.

  • Assists anesthesia and nursing with patient care, patient equipment, and environmental maintenance activities in the Operating Room.

  • Helps with room turnover which includes stocking and cleaning and wiping down anesthesia carts between cases.

  • Sterile processing duties that involve sterilization, high level disinfection and cleaning and disinfection of instruments and equipment.
