Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in a team environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards.

The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities as applicable, problem solving, and productivity.

Employment Qualifications

  • The incumbent shall, at minimum be a graduate of a Master's degree program or a qualified four year Bachelor's degree program approved by ACOTE in collaboration with the AOTA (or foreign equivalent), and hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice or meet all qualifications to be eligible for traineeship. Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.

  • Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable however is not required.

  • Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation.

Essential Job Functions

Clinical Area

  • Conduct initial assessments.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans.

Job Summary:

Essential Job Functions

  • Assisting the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patients within an inpatient (acute care; hospital) and/or outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) service area. Functions include, accepting new written, faxed or electronic prescription orders from a prescriber or a prescriber's agent; accepting new verbal prescription orders for non-controlled drugs from a prescriber or a prescriber's agent as authorized by state law and responsible pharmacist authorization.

  • Entering information into and retrieving information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system. Ensuring the accurate charge and credit functions related to medication orders are processed for patient billing.

  • Preparing and affixing labels; stocking prescription drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory locations; counting and pouring drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist; performing non-sterile drug compounding as defined under guidelines published by United States Pharmacopeia

  • Stocking automated drug dispensing cabinets, floor stock, and crash carts; Transport of medications by vehicle to off-site locations. Operating technology used for drug dispensing (robotics)

  • As permitted by state law/regulations: Accepting verbal refill authorizations for dangerous drugs that are not controlled substances from a prescriber or the prescriber's agent, so long as there is no change from the original prescription and clarifying prescriptions when no professional judgment is needed; Sending or receiving copies of non-controlled prescriptions (i.e.. Prescription transfers). Technician checking of associate technician work prior to dispensing.

  • Assisting in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students and participation in performance improvement activities.

  • Outpatient: Packaging and selling a prescription drug to a patient or patient representative and assisting with insurance claim processing. Performing diagnostic laboratory testing as defined in state laws/guidelines.

  • Inpatient/Home infusion: Performing sterile drug compounding as defined under guidelines published by United States Pharmacopeia and infection-control procedures

  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Other functions as outlined, and in accordance with, respective State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.

Job Summary:

This housekeeping role is responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of all patient areas, work areas, offices and public areas. The housekeeper must practice good cleaning habits to provide a safe and sanitary environment for all patients, visitors and staff.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Under the direction of a Licensed Professional (e.g., Physician or Nurse Practitioner), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifying and determining the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care. The LPN coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members. The LPN complies to all documentation standards within the scope of the Medical Assistant and the LPN role.

Essential Job Functions

- Analyzes the assessment data, evaluates patient's condition, and collaborates with the provider to develop and maintain the patient's plan of care.

- Provides education to patients, families, and staff members, in conjunction with other healthcare entities, under the direction of the provider or manager.

- Coordinates the care of the patient with other healthcare entities according to the patient's plan of care.

- Administers medications in a safe manner, which is consistent with the organizations policies and procedures as well as the state requirements with which they are licensed in.

- LPNs in a lead position serve as subject matter experts and clinical and professional mentors within the practice.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in a team environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards.

Employment Qualifications

  • Obtains and interprets prescriptions/orders for services with physician/referral source as required. Assesses and evaluates patients using appropriate non-standardized and standardized tests.   • Selects and administers appropriate techniques, modalities, and interventions to maximize outcomes. Monitors patient's response to treatment and modifies the plan as needed. (pediatric as required by site) Locations for treatment and evaluation include the hospital/clinic and settings in the community.

  • Effectively communicates to patient, family/caregiver and treatment team both orally and in writing.

  • Collaborates with the patient, family/caregiver and treatment team in planning for discharge. Provides patient and family/caregiver education and training. Makes appropriate discharge recommendations and obtains and/or recommends appropriate assistive equipment.

  • Promotes the profession by participating in the Clinical Education program and providing education to others. Acts as a fitness/wellness instructor as needed for community programs.

  • Maintains competency by participation in continuing education, in-services and other learning opportunities. Meets standards for all required reviews of competency.

  • Shares responsibility for common goals of the team by carrying caseload consistent with peers, maintaining the work environment and inventories, adjusting individual responsibilities to meet needs of department/work environment and positively representing department and profession to others.

  • Participates in process improvement by identification of improvement opportunities for patient care, data collection and solutions to identified problems.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Required Minimum Education: 4 year/Bachelor Degree

Specialty/Major: Physical Therapy

Preferred Education: Post Graduate Degree (Ph.D)

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):

Required: Graduate of accredited program in Physical Therapy with minimum of Bachelor's degree. Holds a current Physical Therapy license from the State of Ohio in good standing. Maintains CPR Certification.

Preferred: Graduate of accredited program in Physical Therapy with Doctorate level degree. Certification in a specialty area, for example: OCS, SCS, NDT, Lymphedema, Women's Health, etc.

The Perioperative Tech assists the operating room perioperative environment functions by providing clerical support, and equipment and room preparation for procedures throughout the continuum of care. Maintains a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors and personnel.

Prepares equipment and room for procedures; cleans instruments, laryngoscopes, endoscopes, carts and other equipment; checks and restocks surgical suites for supplies and equipment after each case; sets up suction, maintains oxygen tank supply and secures tanks according to policy and procedure; uses appropriate cleaning methods to post or terminally clean the OR suites according to policy and procedure; obtains inpatient beds, cleans beds and replaces linen as appropriate; operates beds and stretchers and obtains oxygen tanks for transport

Responds to area or rooms to clean and/or set up equipment between cases; continuously monitors existing equipment and supplies, and increases or decreases when appropriate; keeps the hallways and corridors clear of obstacles; maintains stocked carts in hallways and anesthesia rooms; checks and restocks case carts/anesthesia carts as appropriate; maintains clean and soiled area, chemical supply, cleaning equipment, etc.; discards and replaces biohazards and sharps containers as needed; maintains paper towels, toilet paper and soap supplies; mops and dusts sterile core; assists in maintaining department safety by replacing outdated supplies and broken equipment; cleans storage rooms; uses appropriate PPE and cleaning chemicals at all times

Provides clerical support to the department by answering phones, assisting with procedure scheduling, etc.

Transports patients and equipment safely; runs case related errands to blood bank, lab, medical records, etc.

Completes duties before leaving the department, asks for assistance and checks needs of team prior to leaving for the day; flexes work schedule as needed to meet the staffing needs of the department

Assists in orientation of new employees to the surgery/recovery departments; attends required in-services and staff meetings per departmental guidelines; demonstrates competency in performing job tasks and in operating equipment on an annual basis; documents appropriate information for Steris and autoclaves

Job Summary:

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and works closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge in workflows, procedures, operation, and processes of the MRI imaging modalities.

  • Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.

  • Confirms the quality and accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data.

  • Selects proper MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters according to established protocols.

  • Contributes to the training and education of new staff and assists in oversight of MRI students.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) provides, coordinates, plans, and evaluates nursing care, and supervises licensed and unlicensed associates in nursing care delivery within established nursing procedures, professional standards, and organizational policies/philosophies. The ED RN demonstrates the ability to care for a group of patients in a fast-paced, high intensity setting as part of an interprofessional team focused on achieving the best individual patient and population outcomes. The ED RN is responsible for modeling core cultural and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm, ensure worker safety and a safe, high quality experience of care.

Essential Job Functions

- In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.

- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.

- Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.

- Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.

- Manages and meets the physical and emotional demands of emergency nursing care.

- Applies knowledge of contemporary emergency nursing practice and future innovations.

- Applies nursing practice to the care of individuals across the lifespan with perceived or actual physical or emotional alterations, ranging from non-urgent to life threatening that are undiagnosed or require further interventions; care practices include, but are not limited to, medical illness, trauma care, pediatric care, gerontologic care, injury prevention, women's health, mental health issues, and life and limb saving measures.

- Collaborates with outside agencies in coordinating care (e.g. protective agencies and law enforcement, Local Crisis, Forensics, EMS, transfer centers, pharmacies).

- Understands and considers while providing care that emergency nursing care is episodic, primary, typically short-term, and occurs in a variety of settings.

- BSMH nurses are expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Summary

Serves as clinical supervisor, coordinator and director of daily on-site clinical activities occurring interdepartmentally (with all Inpatient Nursing staff) and interdepartmentally (with ancillary & support staff).
