Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Registered Nurse Medical/Surgical functions as a care provider of a multidisciplinary care team responsible for the delivery of patient care through using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Essential Job Functions

In collaboration with members of interdisciplinary teams, the RN establishes goals and strategies for meeting the discharge or continuing care needs with the patient. The RN performs and documents complete patient assessments, initiates and maintains current nursing care plans for all assigned patients, identifies patient learning needs to provide individualized and comprehensive teaching, administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures, serves as a point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout the hospital departments, acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department, and serves as a patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a safe and healthy environment for visitors, patients, and employees. Monitors environment to detect potential hazards, notifies appropriate personnel and takes corrective action. Primarily remains on standby in the Emergency Room to deter and/or prevent acts of violence. Notifies the Security Specialist on duty when action is taken. Provides assistance and services to public and employees according to established procedures.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS

Must have certified completion of an approved police training academy and be a sworn law enforcement officer with police powers in the City of Richmond, Virginia.

JOB REQUIRMENTS

  1. Unless responding to an emergency, or their presence is requested in other areas of the hospital by the Security Specialist, remains on standby in the Emergency Room. In accordance with established procedures, provides documentation of actives. Takes corrective and/or immediate action to prevent harm or injury to the public and employees when appropriate.

  2. Completes written reports of any serious incident or unusual circumstance encounter while on duty.

  3. Enforces county code and acts upon hospital polices as they relate to Security.

  4. Projects a positive attitude of service to the Hospital and maintains public relations with employees, patients, and visitors. Extending kindly care and promoting the mission and philosophy of the Hospital should always be a prime consideration.

  5. Operates communications equipment in keeping with assigned duties.

  6. Responds to non-emergency situation when the presence of a Police Officer is requested in other areas of the hospital by the Security Specialist.

  7. Responds to any emergency incident such as fires, ATLAS, and duress situations.

  8. Promotes security awareness among hospital staff whenever possible.

  9. Demonstrates ability to access various areas of the Hospital, MOB, and Hospital grounds, at least 20% of the time in response to emergency situation. Demonstrates ability to exert a high level of physical effort in order to restrain and hold violent/combative persons. Requires visual acuity and proficient hearing in order to react and respond quickly and appropriately to loud pages, beepers and a variety of emergency situations.

Summary of Primary Functions

The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides, coordinates, plans, and evaluates the care of the patient in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and within established the nursing process framework. Job Summary:

The Clinical Pharmacist participates in clinical programs and initiatives 50-90% of the time with a consistency in schedule. Job Summary:

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and works closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Medical Laboratory Scientists (sometimes referred to as clinical laboratory scientists, or medical technologists) are responsible for performing all aspects of testing on patient samples in an attempt to detect the absence or presence of a number of diseases. Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and according to established procedures, works as an integral part of the surgical team . Possesses knowledge of aseptic technique and applies this while participating in surgical procedures, coordination of care of instruments, equipment, and supplies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Work requires knowledge of basic sciences such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology. etc. , asepsis and sterile techniques and room techniques generally acquired through completion of an accredited two year program of surgical technology .

  • If hired after January 1997 must be certified within 6 months of hire as a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) as awarded by the Liaison Council on Certification (a member of the National Commission of Health Certifying Agencies) otherwise, CST preferred; and must maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.

  • Works required analytical skills to accurately and efficiently set up operating room supplies and equipment.

  • Must take call per policy and procedure. Work requires three to six months on-the-job training for full familiarity with surgeon's preferences and department policies and procedures.

  • Provides patient care to neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work requires prolonged standing during procedures, lifting and positioning patients, and transporting patients.   • Assists nursing team in the process of admitting, transferring, and discharging patients, including notifying appropriate individuals and departments, assembles patient charts and related paperwork, assisting and performing environmental orientation of patients, preparing, stocking, cleaning of rooms, documenting historical information, and securing belongings and valuables.

  • Clerical skills/duties including but not limited to courier services, answering phones/call lights and orders, obtains, stocks, places, tests, discontinues, and removes patient equipment and supplies.

  • Communicates and Documents pertinent patient and general information and services provided.

  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and works with others as applicable to resolve issues and concerns.

Job Summery:

Under general supervision, assists physicians in performing invasive and noninvasive cardiac, structural heart interventions, and vascular procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CCL). Prepares patients and procedural sites using aseptic techniques. Assists physicians by calibrating equipment, preparing supplies, devices and instruments for the procedure. Sets up, operates, and monitors complex digital medical and fluoroscopic equipment to ensure accurate image acquisition and expected patient outcomes. Utilizes multiple computer applications and medical devices for proper procedure documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Responsible for monitoring, interpreting and calculating hemodynamic waveforms and EKGs. Assists with the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of patient care under the supervision of the physician in the CCL to promote safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care. Maintains an electronically and radiologic safe environment in the CCL. Maintains integrity of CCL supply inventory. Ensures accurate charge capture.

Essential Functions:

  • Extracts and documents all pertinent pre- procedural information obtained from patient and medical record.

  • Prepares patients for procedures using proper positioning and surgical prep of procedural site(s).

  • Maintains sterile technique while assisting physician duringcardiac adult and pediatric / EP/ vascular procedures. Requires the ability to prepare instruments equipment and medications before and during Cardiac/ EP/ Vascular Assists physician in cardiac/ vascular/ EP/ pediatric procedures.

  • Operates digital medical and fluoroscopic equipment during procedures.

  • Continuous monitoring of patients condition through interpretation of EKG and hemodynamic waveforms.

  • Requires documentation of procedural events and ensures accuracyof recorded waveforms and calculation. Finalizes procedural reports and transfers allimages and hemodynamic informationto the server.

  • Loads automatic injector with contrast media and injects via catheter at a rate of volume selected by physician.

  • Uses provided computer applications to ensure accurate charge capture on procedural and supply charges.

  • Requires stocking and inventory of equipment and supply readiness utilizing hospital inventory system.

  • Participate in unit performance improvement /quality management measures.

Job Requirements:

  • Required Minimum Education: Vocational/Technical Degree

  • Must be RCIS credentialed through Cardiovascular Credentialing International and/or RT through ARRT.

  • Must have BLS / ACLS certification.

  • Must have basic dysrhythmia course.

  • Work requires 6 to 12 months on-the-job training in electrocardiograph interpretation, aseptic techniques, and cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Previous Cath Lab or RT experience preferred but not required.

  • Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess level of knowledge of heart anatomy, physiology and radiographic procedures generally acquired through two years education in an allied health science such as radiographic technology, nursing, or cardiopulmonary technology. Desirable to have registry as an invasive Cardiovascular Specialist through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International. Must have analytical abilities necessary to monitor and assess patient's condition, and to perform calculations for diagnosis of heart defects.
