Certified Medical Assistant -Poland Cardiology

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner

  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date

  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height

  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed

  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Degree or GED

Licensure/Certification:

Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

  • If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)

BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Experience:

  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)

  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required)

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Responsible for supply inventory management and using financial analysis to monitor and improve processes at assigned site. Manages specialized medical supply inventories, stock locations, and receiving processes. Controls specialized and high dollar implants and supplies. Maintains key documentation and records. Leads special projects within the Supply Chain departments. Designs, maintains orderliness and cleanliness of stock locations. Leads stock inventories. Performs research and resolves recalls. Onboards, mentors, and trains associates.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages specialized medical supply par locations, inventories, and implants; creates and designs new par locations and adjusts items and inventory levels per utilization analysis

  • Responsible for inventory management program including inventory turns, excess, stock rotation and expiration date management

  • Manages consignment inventory programs and compliance documentation

  • Submits purchase and bill-only requisitions in compliance with cost accounting and contract compliance policies

  • Conducts research Purchase Order statuses and resolves perpetual inventory item issues

  • Manages overnight, backorders, and stock out requests at the needs of the department and communicates impact to department leaders

  • Arranges critical expediting transportation needs to support patient care

  • Reconciles and remedies shipping errors and incorrectly shipped product

  • Investigates applicability of product recalls, pulls affected equipment / supplies, and maintains product recall system records accurately

  • Leads or participates in continuous process improvement initiatives for supply chain department

  • Onboards new associates; mentors less experienced associates; trains non-Supply Chain associates on enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other Supply Chain processes

Cardiovascular Technologist - Mercy Lorain Hospital

Shift/Schedule

  • Full Time - Scheduled for 40hrs/wk

  • Shift Times - 7am-5:30pm (10hr shifts, Monday-Friday)

  • Weekday and weekend on call availability

Under the direction and supervision of radiologist/physicians, performs all procedures within the special Procedures section of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and the Cardiac catheterization Lab. Also performs general radiographic examinations as required. Observes all radiation safety guidelines and performs any other duties which assist in the provision of quality patient care according to the mission and values of the health center.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic at a level normally acquired through completion of a high school education.

Successful completion of an AMA approved training program in radiologic technology and certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Advanced schooling/credentialing and certification are required to advance into areas of echocardiography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and mammography. Advanced study and certification preferred to advance to CAT SCAN, MRI and special procedures.

Approximately one to two year's experience necessary in order to become familiar with equipment and procedures.

Working Conditions

Normal patient care environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature and the like.

Frequent exposure to radiation with little change of injury when established safety procedures are followed.

Substantial physical effort exerted up to 50% of work time.

Ability to walk, stand, and bend more than 80% of time.

Frequent exposure (50% to 80%) to adverse conditions.

Reports to assigned Manager/Lead Imaging Technologist.

Sterile Processing Technician - Mercy Lorain Hospital (PRN)

This is a PRN "As-Needed" Position

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality, timely manner throughout BSMH.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Sterilization Process- Uses knowledge of sterilization principles to correctly wrap, package, and sterilize instrumentation and other items appropriately using, but not limited to: ethylene oxide, sterrad, V-pro, or steam sterilization

  2. Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality.

  3. Properly documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological test to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process.

  4. Properly loads and operates all sterilizers, helps to maintain the sterilizers in good working order through preventative maintenance.

  5. Inspects sterilizers for visible signs of malfunction and reports as needed.

  6. Processes surgical instrumentation in the instrument tracking system to maintain accurate assembly.

  7. Insures proper operation of all sterilization equipment of a daily basis.

  8. Runs biological and chemical tests and completes reports.

  9. Ability to do minor troubleshooting of equipment used in process.

  10. Decontamination Process: Identifies and uses appropriate methods and solutions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instruments and clinical equipment.

  11. Operates washers/various sterilizers and other departmental equipment.

  12. Appropriately handles garbage, linen, and bio hazardous materials.

  13. Appropriately uses Personal Protective Equipment at all times.

  14. Understands principles of safe work practices and universal protocol

  15. Distribution: Retrieves, disburses, and tracks instrumentation, carts, and supplies using the current hospital tracking system.

  • Able to stand for long periods.

  • Able to lift 25 lbs on a repetitive basis.

Work Experience

  • Previous instrument processing experience preferred

Skills

Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, bacteriology. Basic knowledge of infection control. Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to assemble/disassemble instruments, understand the workings of machinery used to clean/sterilize instrumentation and troubleshoot. Critical thinking skills, ability to work independently, take direction, act in a professional manner, be a team player, basic computer skills.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for ensuring that all patients are greeted and processed appropriately and routed to the appropriate testing area. Responsible for accurate registration and pre-registration of all patients, to include a professional patient interview, accurate insurance and computer coding, and appropriate documentation of the events surrounding the interview. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work requires ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and communicate effectively at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school education.

  • Knowledge of insurance verification/pre-certification, and benefits with preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in patient registration/health care.

  • Ability to perform in multiple computer applications.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in ICD-9 coding is preferred.

  • Work requires proficient keyboard skills with an average speed of 40 wpm.

  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills; prefers at least one year customer service experience.

  • Must be able to work under considerable stress using tact and diplomacy

They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, patient registration, order entry, result look-up and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and referral testing and sort specimen drop-offs according to insurance. They ensure accurate registration of specimens as needed.

Essential Job Functions

- Performs specimen collection procedures

- Processes and sends out specimen and body fluids

- Enters orders

- Performs accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting of samples

- Generates reports

- Registers patients

- Provides basic customer service

- Maintains inventory levels and stocks supplies

- When staffed in Microbiology department, culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation. Performs the MST (Micro Setup Time) as needed.

- Phlebotomist duties may be needed.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner

  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date

  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight and height

  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed

  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Degree or GED

Licensure/Certification:

Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

  • If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)

BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Experience:

  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)

  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required)

Basic Purpose: Evaluates, plans, and implements Speech-Language Therapy services for patients according to standards of practice of the profession, laws governing practice by the State of Ohio, and facility and department policy and procedures. MINIMUM EDUCATION

Required: Graduate Degree (Master's) in Speech Language Pathology

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Required: State of Ohio license in good standing with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Sppech, Language, and Hearing Assocation or a conditional license under a supervised Professional Experience Plan approved by the Ohio Board.

Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
