Responsibilities
Steers facilities and development related sourcing initiatives for the company with the goal of achieving cost reductions in, the total cost of goods and services, increase total % of spend automated with national and regional vendors, as well as in maintaining or improving quality and vendor service levels. Aligns with other departments, including internal and external designers in supporting their strategies and processes while maximizing the company's buying potential and savings opportunities.
Implements and rolls out the strategic vision for facilities and development category.
Coordinates with the department team on major strategic project and supplier reviews to ensure programs are maintained on an ongoing basis (price verification, product blocking, etc)
Utilizes strategic sourcing processes to ensure that contracts are put in place that meet the needs of all of our communities, while providing synergy in process and savings. Timing of which is based on contract expiration date or business needs.
Identifies and prioritizes sourcing projects within spend area and develop the annual procurement plan.
Leads/participates in cross-functional teams in the development of sourcing strategies.
Drives contract and vendor compliance to the new and existing national agreements.
Provides detailed reporting on company programs including trend analysis, rebate tracking, savings initiatives, etc.
Leads selected department sourcing initiatives and be a point person for selected company-wide strategic projects.

Qualifications
Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university preferred. Five to ten years of related facilities and development sourcing experience including proficiency in the procurement of Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) to include related renovation and construction products/services. Proven success sourcing multiple categories for a national, multi-location organization including: managing RFP's, vendor relationships, contract compliance, etc.

Responsibilities
Manages the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure resident's healthcare needs are met. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as residents' healthcare needs change. Supervises licensed nurses and other direct care staff within the community. Responsible for overseeing and validating all resident care to ensure needs are met and that care is provided in accordance with physician orders, care plans, policies/procedures, and state and federal regulations. Strengthens clinical processes within community until a replacement is identified, then supports newly assigned Director of Clinical Services, Assistant Director of Clinical Services, and/or MDS Coordinator and others as assigned. Travels within the division as assigned to support management vacancies, start-ups, vacations, etc.
Responsible for the direct supervision of community-based licensed nursing staff (LPN/LVN, RN), CNAs, and Med Techs/CMAs (if allowed/required by State Regulations). Also responsible to supervise nursing administrative associates.
Assigns and directs work of subordinates, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines associates, and addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Provides training, supervision, and monitoring of associates in the administration of medications as described/allowed in Nurse Practice Act, including auditing of medication administration records.
Provides training and education to resident care associates on an ongoing basis with classroom in- services, situation-specific training, and resident-specific training.
Supervises the maintenance of resident charts and reviews documentation performed by caregiving staff.
As described and allowed in the Nurse Practice Act, assesses the health, functional and psycho-social status of residents, initiates individualized service plans, proactively manages care and services for each resident, evaluates effectiveness, and maximizes the resident's opportunity to remain in their environment.
Manages the health care of residents, including the dissemination of information to families and associates. Ensures that family members are aware of residents' need for scheduled appointments.
Participates in pre-admission screening of prospective new residents. Ensures that required documentation is completed prior to or upon resident admission, including nursing assessments, service plans, and other assigned forms. Updates assessments as required by policy and as described/allowed in Nurse Practice Act.
Performs on-site evaluations of residents admitted to alternate care environments for treatment and maintains contact with resident families with the intent of returning the resident to Brookdale.
Performs ongoing assessment/observation of residents' physical and psycho-social needs and coordinates with other departments to ensure quality, proactive care.
Evaluates residents; documents changes in condition, and notifies executive director, physician, and resident's legally responsible party/family of resident's condition and reactions. Prepares the Physician Visit Form and reviews and updates the resident chart.
Facilitates continuity of care for residents receiving home health care, hospice services, and other third party healthcare-related services.
Participates in or leads meetings relevant to resident care issues, such as Care Plan, Change of Condition, Clinical Stand-Up, and Collaborative Care meetings involving appropriate parties as needed.
Ensures in-house ancillary medical services such as podiatrist visits, doctor visits, and dental visits, psych visits, lab tests, X-ray, ambulance, etc., are scheduled and followed through.
Participates in department quality improvement activities.
Assists in keeping the environment safe for associates to reduce the occurrence of Workers' Compensation claims by appropriately evaluating resident transfer and mobility needs and involving therapy services as indicated.
Shares on-call and manager-on-duty responsibilities/shifts as required.
Strengthens clinical process within the community until permanent replacement is identified.
Supports other requirements within the division as assigned.

Job Summary
Assists Clare Bridge Program Manager or Coordinator in leading and implementing a calendar of person centered dementia friendly programs that meet specific needs of each and all residents within the dementia care community. In alignment with Brookdale's Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, assists in providing person centered programs while engaging residents in meaningful and purposeful dementia care programs within the Brookdale community enhancing their quality of life. Oversees repairs and maintenance of buildings including vacated rooms in a timely manner. This includes painting walls and cleaning carpets.
Ensures walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained.
Maintains positive communication with local fire Marshall, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the community.
Assesses all plumbing and electrical problems within the community and determines the best course of action to correct the problem. Works within the legal scope of local and state codes.
Reviews safety data sheets (SDS) as requested for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals used and take necessary precautions.

Audits cash handling and purchasing/bid processes to ensure compliance, to assess credibility of vendors, and to conduct proper analysis of bids.
Supervises Business Office staff and operations in the processing of payroll, invoices and receipt of payments from residents. Ensures that corporate policies and procedures relating to cash, accounting, collections, purchasing, budget and payroll are followed to maintain SOX compliance.
Proactively manages DSO rates and follows collection procedures to obtain payments and reduce DSO. Reconciles resident accounts and informs ED regarding residents behind in fee payments. Reviews aging of accounts receivables and recommends bad debt write-offs.
Prepares and posts notifications to residents regarding rate increases as approved by corporate office. Routinely posts and calculates interest payments for resident's security deposits. Requests security deposit refunds for departing residents. Reviews other credits for residents and approves refunds as appropriate.
Upon request, may provide financial information relating to expansion and renovations in community. Assists with financial studies and projections as it may relate to the profitability of expanded services. May assist ED regarding coordination of construction phases with operational requirements.

Qualifications
Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting, management, business, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience for an operations center within a large multi-facility corporation. Prior experience in the health care industry and professional certifications are preferred. Prior supervisory experience is a plus. Communities with Skilled Nursing Facilities: Additional 2 years of accounting experience that includes Medicare processing and rules and regulations. Communities with Entry Fees: Prior experience that includes extensive knowledge of the financial implications and the state insurance rules and regulations governing Entry Fee communities and similar arrangements.

Windows environment computer skills are required (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., preferred). Effective organizational skills are a must. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices including the concepts of financial modeling, budget preparation, administration, and proper cash handling procedures.
