Associate Executive Director, #assisted living, #senior living, Health & Wellness Director

Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day operational execution in support of an Executive Director within a larger community. Manages occupancy and monthly financial performance for the property. Maintains positive working relationships with all residents, resident family members, employees, and the business community.

  • Under direct supervision of an Executive Director, responsible for all operations, acting as contact for all staff, residents, prospects, community organizations, government agencies and the public.

  • Supervises, directs, and motivates staff. Maintains superior training and morale. Ensures training programs are effectively executed.

  • Maintains high degree of resident satisfaction and retention through consistent delivery of high quality services. Provides leadership for staff and residents to include pro-actively solving problems and resolving issues. Administers annual resident satisfaction survey.

  • Executes renewal program with existing residents through a proactive program ensuring the highest renewal rate possible.

  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, develops annual operating and capital budgets. Maintains budget accountability to the Executive Director, aggressively anticipates and minimizes negative budget variances and deficits. Meets and exceeds budget occupancy goals for the property. Continually explores means of revenue enhancement and expense reduction.

  • Hires, trains, disciplines and terminates employees in accordance with company policies. Reviews hires, promotions, disciplinary actions and termination of employment of associates with attention paid to consistency in the selection and retention of quality personnel.

  • Ensures buildings, grounds and property are up to company standards through the oversight of preventative maintenance systems and programs, and frequent inspections that meet company standards of excellence.

  • Maintains current departmental policies, procedures, and licenses in accordance with all requirements.

  • Fosters creativity among staff to deliver the highest quality and optimum services. Responsible for creating and maintaining an atmosphere of stability. Acts as a member of Resident Counsel.

  • Develops and maintains a positive image with community. Becomes active in social and civic affairs of the local community. Represents the facility and the company to governmental agencies, professional organizations, community groups and other appropriate public agencies/groups.

  • Conducts department head meetings on a weekly basis. Conducts quarterly associate meetings to review safety on all aging issues and building issues. Conducts quarterly residential meetings.

  • Keeps current on competitive projects and programs in the market place.

Qualifications

Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Gerontology, Business or other related field is required. Minimum two to four years proven management experience in retirement housing, hospitality or health care is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special RequirementsState license as a nursing home administrator and/or Assisted Living License.

Management/Decision MakingUses strong analytic skills and an in-depth understanding of the organization and the business in order to handle arising problems and issues. Solves diverse problems using solid analytical skills where limited precedents/ guidelines exist.

Knowledge and SkillsHas an advanced knowledge of the organization, industry, and a functional discipline. Extensive understanding of technical areas gained through experience and used to complete and/or oversee assignments. Has working knowledge of the organization. Understanding of legal requirements impacting skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Understanding of sound business practices and approaches for analyzing general and specific operational issues. Understanding of appropriate methods for hiring, training, evaluating, motivating and disciplining personnel. High degree of accuracy in all assignments; ability to multi task and work with numerous interruptions; high degree of initiative; good judgment; employs professional ethics; high degree of customer service orientation;excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to motivate others. Ability to work in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Based on state regulations and completion of required training/certification, Medication Aides/Techs will administer or assist with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider and observe/report responses to your supervisor.

  • Certified Medication Aides/Techs make sure the medication supply room is organized and clean, assist with medication cart audits, and provide accurate counts of all medications. You will also communicate with pharmacies to coordinate medication delivery.

Manages the day-to-day clinical services of a highly complex, multiple product line, or large community.   • For assisted living or memory care communities, creates collaborative relationship with community clinical leader to ensure community's care and services are appropriate to meet the needs of residents. Assists in developing and conducting service plan reviews, consistent with applicable legal requirements, with appropriate clinical care team members and resident families to maintain the personal dignity of residents.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of financial acumen as it relates to community operations; works to meet or exceed budgeted revenue and profitability; and proactively creates plans to overcome unanticipated expenses or revenue shortfalls. Continually explores means of revenue enhancement and expense reduction, while meeting the needs of residents and adhering to Company policies and applicable regulations.

  • Drives sales and marketing efforts in collaboration with community sales leader to meet or exceed occupancy or revenue targets by developing new business, generating leads, and building strategic relationships. Engages with prospects who tour the community. Identifies trends and implements approved sales and marketing activities and strategies to maximize revenue (RevPAR).

  • Identifies and builds positive relationships with local influencers and professionals to raise community profile. Becomes active in social and civic affairs of the local community that align with the Company's mission. Represents the community and the Company to governmental agencies (as appropriate), professional organizations, community groups, and other appropriate agencies and groups.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Provides direct supervision of care giving within the community. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity recognizing individual needs and encouraging independence. Fosters a homelike atmosphere throughout the community.

  • Provides direct supervision of resident care staff, which includes monitoring job performance, collaborating with community leadership on associate performance evaluations, coaching and counseling associates and conducting and documenting corrective action as needed.

Assures that medications are properly stored, medication carts/cupboards are cleaned and medication room is organized according to standards.

  • If within scope of practice, may administer medication to residents; may review capabilities of residents who self-administer medications on a regular basis (refer to state regulations regarding medication assistance and documentation).

  • Monitors staff in administration of medication, to include frequents audits of medication administration records (MAR).

  • Observes residents, records significant reactions, and notifies community leadership of resident's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Responds promptly to all emergency calls from residents.

  • Communicates to families regarding resident's personal needs and achievements. Reminds families of need for scheduled physician, dental, or eye appointments. Assigns vital signs to associates and monitors compliance. Assures in-house ancillary medical services such as podiatrist, doctor visits, psych visits, labs, x-ray, ambulance, etc. are scheduled and followed through.

  • Assists in organizing and developing service plan reviews as required, with appropriate resident care team members and resident families.

  • Participates in the maintenance of resident charts including review of documentation performed by resident assistants, monthly MAR reviews, setting up new resident and thinning records appropriately.

  • Participates in department quality improvement activities, to include completion of quality assurance surveys as assigned by community leadership.

  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly safety and infection control checks of the home and grounds, assisting the community leadership for resident health and safety purposes.

  • Participates in community functions including family socials and open houses. Communicates with community professionals.

  • Shares on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

Requirements to be a Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technicians will maintain scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on, but not limited to: HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, landscape, kitchen equipment and emergency pull cord equipment. Maintenance Technicians will also perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned and respond to maintenance requests by community directors and residents in both private rooms and public living areas. They will also maintain positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector and any other jurisdictions governing the community.

  • Our business office coordinators provide support to the community, which include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and other human resources related duties.

  • You will also track community accounting changes, prepare and record all invoices for the community, assist with new hire documentation as well as organize and maintain personnel, resident, marketing and other files as needed.

  • An Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or minimum of one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
