Responsibilities

• Manages the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure resident's healthcare needs are met.

• Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as resident's healthcare needs change.

Responsibilities

Provides direct supervision of care giving within the community. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity recognizing individual needs and encouraging independence. Fosters a homelike atmosphere throughout the community.

• Provides direct supervision of resident care staff, which includes monitoring job performance, collaborating with community leadership on associate performance evaluations, coaching and counseling associates and conducting and documenting corrective action as needed.

• Coordinates training and education of resident care staff on an ongoing basis.

• Verifies all associate hours on time cards and weekly hours report. Completes nursing schedules to assure proper coverage to meet resident needs and according to budget. This includes arranging replacement staffing when necessary and maintaining clear records of all changes, requests and irregularities.

• Observes residents health status, takes actions to address concerns within scope of practice, and reports all significant changes, reactions to medications and treatment or significant incidences to Health and Wellness Director (or designee) in a timely manner.

• Assists the Health and Wellness Director (or designee) in medication management, ordering medication from pharmacy and maintaining records as dictated in Brookdale Senior Living policies and procedures manual. Assures that medications are properly stored, medication carts/cupboards are cleaned and medication room is organized according to standards.

• If within scope of practice, may administer medication to residents; may review capabilities of residents who self-administer medications on a regular basis (refer to state regulations regarding medication assistance and documentation).

• Monitors staff in administration of medication, to include frequents audits of medication administration records (MAR).

• Observes residents, records significant reactions, and notifies community leadership of resident's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Responds promptly to all emergency calls from residents.

• Communicates to families regarding resident's personal needs and achievements. Reminds families of need for scheduled physician, dental, or eye appointments. Assigns vital signs to associates and monitors compliance. Assures in-house ancillary medical services such as podiatrist, doctor visits, psych visits, labs, x-ray, ambulance, etc. are scheduled and followed through.

• Assists in organizing and developing service plan reviews as required, with appropriate resident care team members and resident families.

• Participates in the maintenance of resident charts including review of documentation performed by resident assistants, monthly MAR reviews, setting up new resident and thinning records appropriately.

• Participates in department quality improvement activities, to include completion of quality assurance surveys as assigned by community leadership.

• Performs daily, weekly and monthly safety and infection control checks of the home and grounds, assisting the community leadership for resident health and safety purposes.

• Participates in community functions including family socials and open houses. Communicates with community professionals.

• Shares on-call duties as required.

• Identifies and builds positive relationships with local influencers and professionals to raise community profile. Provides direct supervision of care giving within the community. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity recognizing individual needs and encouraging independence. Fosters a homelike atmosphere throughout the community.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing quality dining experience by assisting the Dining Room Manager with overseeing dining room staff and maintaining a pleasant and clean dining environment. Provides direct supervision of at least two or more full time associates.

• Supervises daily operations of dining room, room service, and convenience store, if applicable.

• Assigns wait staff to designated sections and all staff to appropriate side work. Inspects work to ensure proper completion.

• Ensures room service orders are delivered timely and properly.

• Ensures smooth and timely opening and closing of the dining room.

• Ensures an adequate number of service employees for each shift and ensures absences are covered.

• Oversees resident billing of food services charges.

• Assists in producing weekly schedules with budgetary guidelines for service staff.

• Leads the training of all new dining room associates and conducts required on-going training sessions.

• Provides supervision for special events.

• May assist service staff during mealtime as needed.

• May assist in greeting and seating residents and guests.

• In consultation with the Dining Services Director, hires, trains, disciplines and terminates departmental associates in accordance with company policies.

• Maintains the resident request logbook and forwards these requests to the Chef and/or Food Service Director.

Performs general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned, including installations and repairsinvolving plumbing and electrical equipment, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair.3. Responds to maintenance requests by residents for items needing repair in their rooms, including repairing plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.4. Repairs and maintains vacated rooms in a timely manner. This includes painting walls and cleaningcarpets.5. Ensures that walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained.6. Maintains positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the community.7. Repairs walls, floor coverings, doors, and wood work in the common areas of the community.8. Assesses all plumbing and electrical problems within the community and determines the best course of action to correct the problem. Works within the legal scope of local and state codes.9. Documents safety issues as well as physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state and federal guidelines. Reviews safety data sheets (SDS) as requested for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and takes necessary precautions.10. Assess property damage and file property damage claims in accordance with company policy.11. Responds appropriately to management and/or community emergencies by assisting as needed.

Experience and Certifications:

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); and one to three years related experience and/ortraining; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of building equipment, buildingcodes and building systems (HVAC, plumbing and electrical) in health care facilities. Ability to communicateeffectively with residents and their family members, and associates at all levels of the organization.
