The District Director of Operations will oversee 11 Brookdale senior living communities in Arkansas, Central Kansas and Missouri. This role supports successful operations high resident satisfaction for Brookdale assisted living and memory care communities.

Prior multi-site operations experience within senior living or the healthcare services industry preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for developing and providing short-term tactical direction and oversight. Develops short-term improvements impacting an area. Directs the overall operations of an assigned group of communities within a geographic region. Oversees a revenue of $20-60 Million.

• Develops long-range objectives and strategies for each community within the region.

• Develops annual operating budget, including census, payroll, staffing and capital forecasts. Monitors and assesses compliance with financial forecasts, productivity and goal achievement. Determines areas needing cost reduction and program improvement and implements changes as needed through the Executive Directors at each community.

• Implements company-wide programs at communities in the areas of dining, asset management, finance, human resources, and other operational areas. Enhances appropriate communication between the communities and the divisional/corporate offices.

• Works with community management to implement sales and marketing activities and strategies to maximize occupancy.

• Assures that resident services reflect the highest quality in conformance with federal and state law and company standards. Enhances the quality of resident care by working with the functional team members in nursing, life enrichment, dining services, housekeeping and maintenance as needed.

• Evaluates, monitors, and enhances public relations efforts at each community.

• Assists all regional offices with preparation for state survey and licensing.

• Assures that all regional communities conform to qualitative and quantitative operating standards.

• Directly supervises and evaluates performance of Executive Directors within region. Updates, trains, and coaches staff as necessary to maintain high standards of quality care, financial accountability and business growth.

• Influences change in a positive manner within the assisted living industry through involvement with trade associations, regulatory agencies, and state executive and legislative officials.

• Partners with regional and community operations teams to oversee the overall health and safety program and practices for the region and maintain a safe environment for the residents, associates and families.

Qualifications

Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Gerontology, Business or other related field required. Minimum of seven to ten years experience in Operations, Marketing, Financial Planning and Human Resources Management in a management role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special RequirementsFrequent car travel requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to work some evenings/weekends and travel frequently by air or car.

Management/Decision MakingMakes analytical decisions and is accountable for all actions made by a department or group. Uses a high degree of analytical ability using sound judgment acquired through significant experience to solve complex and varied problems that could result in substantial loss of reputation.

Requirements to be a Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technicians will maintain scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on, but not limited to: HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, landscape, kitchen equipment and emergency pull cord equipment. Maintenance Technicians will also perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned and respond to maintenance requests by community directors and residents in both private rooms and public living areas. Leads the day-to-day operations of a large, complex community with over 200 units and multiple product lines, including a skilled nursing facility. Is responsible for the community's associate relations, resident and resident family engagement and connection, financial performance, and regulatory compliance. Creates and executes the business plan and develops the team to become the preferred senior living community in the market, while growing revenue and profitability in partnership with the district team. Works with sales to drive sales results. Creates an inclusive community culture that provides high quality resident experiences and care and engages residents, families, and associates.

• Is responsible for all operations within the community, interacting with staff and residents, prospects, or their family members.

• Develops and implements business plan to become the highest performing senior living community in the local market. Creates, analyzes, and executes annual operating and capital budgets and holds department leaders accountable for department budgets. Manages community performance against goals; works with department leaders to meet business goals. Creates and implements plans to improve or maintain performance to Company service and financial standards.

• Builds and maintains strong working relationships with management team and encourages teamwork, partnership, and collaboration; cultivates an inclusive community culture. Supervises, directs, and motivates community management while empowering department leaders to supervise, direct, and motivate staff; ensures department leaders proactively recognize and solve issues. Holds department leaders accountable for department performance and empowers them to demonstrate leadership and accountability in their respective departments; encourages autonomy and promotes feedback. Provides assistance to leaders and staff as needed. Works with department leaders to ensure community maintains appropriate staffing levels to meet the needs of residents and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

• Demonstrates supportive leadership to department leaders and managers to assist in attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining associates in accordance with Company policies. Understands and communicates the community's staffing needs and is responsible for overseeing the recruiting and onboarding process; works with department leaders to ensure associates are appropriately trained and developed to meet the needs of residents. In consultation with department leaders, reviews promotions, development plans, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions to ensure consistency in the selection and retention of quality associates. Works with department leaders to analyze trends and implement strategies to reduce turnover and increase retention.

• Builds high degree of resident satisfaction and retention. Is responsible for maintaining positive resident relations and is accessible and approachable to residents and their families. Empowers community management to proactively solve resident problems and resolve issues. Works with appropriate department leaders to leverage satisfied residents and families to grow community occupancy and to execute renewal program with existing residents. Partners with Resident Council as necessary. Leads the effort to administer resident satisfaction and other surveys and to create plan to address opportunities for improvement in resident satisfaction, experience, and engagement.

• Creates and maintains collaborative relationship with community and skilled nursing clinical leaders to ensure community's care and services are appropriate to meet the needs of residents. Collaborates with clinical leaders to oversee resident services including the admission process, healthcare management, and maintenance of resident documentation to ensure high quality services and compliance with Company policy and applicable legal requirements. Ensures clinical leaders conduct service plan reviews, consistent with applicable legal requirements, with resident families to maintain the personal dignity of residents.

• Demonstrates a high degree of financial acumen as it relates to community operations. Drives results and proactively shares best practices and ideas with department leaders to analyze, develop, and execute annual operating and capital budgets; works to meet or exceed budgeted revenue, profitability, and occupancy goals. Strategizes with department leaders and district team to minimize negative budget variances and deficits and to proactively create plans to overcome unanticipated expenses or revenue shortfalls. Continually explores means of revenue enhancement and expense reduction, while meeting the needs of residents and adhering to Company policies and applicable regulations.

• Drives sales and marketing efforts in collaboration with the community sales leader to meet or exceed occupancy or revenue targets by assisting to develop new business, generate leads, and build strategic relationships. Engages with prospects who tour the community. Identifies trends, strategizes effective methods for increasing occupancy, and empowers sales leader to implement approved sales and marketing activities and strategies to maximize revenue (RevPAR).

• Identifies and builds positive relationships with local influencers and professionals to raise community profile. Becomes active in social and civic affairs of the local community that align with the Company's mission. Represents the community and the Company to governmental agencies (as appropriate), professional organizations, community groups, and other appropriate public agencies and groups.

• Oversees proper maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and property and ensures maintenance department is working to keep property up to Company standards; ensures proper oversight of preventative maintenance systems and programs and frequent inspections that meet Company standards of excellence.

• Enforces current Company policies and procedures and holds department leaders accountable for doing the same. Maintains applicable licenses in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manages the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure resident's healthcare needs are met.

• Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as resident's healthcare needs change.

• Ensures consistent quality resident care and service delivery throughout all shifts; this may require assuming the role and responsibilities of a Caregiver or Med Tech/Aide in order to meet the residents' needs and staffing requirements.

• Shares on call duties as required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing a quality dining experience by greeting and seating residents and guests, overseeing dining services staff in the absence of the Manager and maintaining a pleasant and clean dining environment. May be required to supervise other staff positions.

• Assists Manager with daily supervision of dining services associates.

• Ensures smooth and timely opening and closing of the dining room. Ensures room service orders are delivered timely and properly. Ensures meals are palatable and appetizing in appearance. Maintains a pleasant and clean environment. Inspects work to ensure completion.

• Adheres to all safety and sanitation standards.

This includes how to engage residents and lead programs on an ongoing basis. This includes facilitating and coordinating dementia focused in-services and or events for families or computer based and situation specific training for associates including Understanding Alzheimer's & Dementia Care (UADC), as required by Brookdale.

• May provide direct supervision of Clare Bridge Program Assistant/s, as required by Executive Director, which includes assisting with hiring, coaching, and counseling program assistant associate and conducting the documenting corrective action, as needed. Job Summary

Assists Clare Bridge Program Manager or Coordinator in leading and implementing a calendar of person centered dementia friendly programs that meet specific needs of each and all residents within the dementia care community. In alignment with Brookdale's Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, assists in providing person centered programs while engaging residents in meaningful and purposeful dementia care programs within the Brookdale community enhancing their quality of life. Recognizes individual abilities and needs while encouraging independence and ensuring resident habits, historical routines, interests and preferences are honored in the provision of care and programming.

Essential Functions

• Supports the implementation of a person centered program to meet individual needs and interests of the residents. Assists in leading and engaging residents in the 7 domains of well-being programs - purposeful, intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional and physical in a dementia friendly structured environment; including sensory focused small groups for residents who cannot participate in a large group setting.

• Assists the Program Manager or Coordinator in the review of individual resident's service plans and completes program documentation, as required by Brookdale standards or state requirements.

• Assists the program manager or coordinator in ensuring dementia care programs are in compliance with state, federal, and other regulations and meet Brookdale's mission, policies, procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

Manages the associates responsible for the general operating maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds to maintain proper care of the assigned community(s) in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards/regulations and company policies.

• Supervises the community maintenance, housekeeping and laundry (if applicable) staff, to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing.

• Directs workers engaged in the maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the community. Inspects completed work for conformance to standards and policies.

• Oversees scheduled maintenance on: H.V.A.C., elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.

• Coordinates maintenance requests by residents for items needing repair in their rooms, including repairing plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.

• Oversees repairs and maintenance of buildings including vacated rooms in a timely manner. This includes painting walls and cleaning carpets.

• Ensures walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained.

• Maintains positive communication with local fire Marshall, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the community.

• Assesses all plumbing and electrical problems within the community and determines the best course of action to correct the problem. Works within the legal scope of local and state codes.

• Reviews safety data sheets (SDS) as requested for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals used and take necessary precautions.

• Assess property damage and file property damage claims in accordance with company policy.

• Responds appropriately to resident or community emergencies by assisting as needed.

Qualifications

Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Directs the overall operations of an assigned group of communities within a geographic area.

• Develops long-range objectives and strategies for each community within the region.

• Develops, in partnership with Executive Directors, annual operating budget, including census, payroll, staffing and capital forecasts for assigned communities. Monitors and assesses compliance with financial forecasts, productivity and goal achievement. Determines areas needing cost reduction and program improvement and implements changes as needed through the Executive Directors at each community.

• Implements company-wide programs at communities in the areas of dining, asset management, finance, human resources, and other operational areas. Enhances appropriate communication between the communities and the divisional/corporate offices.

• Works with community management to implement sales and marketing activities and strategies to maximize occupancy and develop a positive image of assigned communities.

• Maintains high degree of resident satisfaction and retention through consistent delivery of high quality services for communities within assigned area. Provides leadership for staff and residents to include pro-actively solving problems and resolving issues.

• Evaluates, monitors, and enhances public relations efforts at each community in support of Net Promoter Score assessment.

• Assists in developing and conducting service plan reviews, as required by state codes, with appropriate resident care team members and resident families.

• Assures that all regional communities conform to qualitative and quantitative operating standards.

• Directly supervises and evaluates performance of Executive Directors within a specified area. Hires, trains, disciplines and terminates associates in accordance with company policies. Reviews hires, promotions, disciplinary actions and termination of employment of associates with attention paid to consistency in the selection and retention of quality personnel. Provides leadership in these areas for communities within assigned areas.

• Influences change in a positive manner with the assisted living industry through involvement with trade associations, regulatory agencies, and state executives and legislative officials.

• Offers hands on partnership through regular visits to assigned communities to oversee the overall health and safety program and practices for the district area and maintain a safe environment for the residents, associates and families.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Gerontology, Business or related field required. Minimum of five years' experience in Operations, Marketing, Financial Planning and Human Resources Management in a management role.

Frequent car travel requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to work some evenings/weekends and travel frequently by car.

Responsibilities

• Manages the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure resident's healthcare needs are met.

• Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as resident's healthcare needs change.
