Career DescriptionJob Description

Primary Responsibilities- Provide GAS3 selling experience for DIY and professional customers - Provide leadership and developmental coaching for store Team Members- Achieve personal / store sales goals and service objectives - Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.- Ensure high standards of customer service including prompt handling of any complaints for product and operational standards- Understand levers to impact P&L- Manager on duty responsibilities (touch base/coaching, issue resolution, floor/phone mgmt., task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties)- Weekly scheduling process

Secondary Responsibilities- Assist in backing up operations of commercial delivery program - Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.

Success Factors- Act like an owner- Superior communication and customer service skills- Ability to locate and stock parts- Safety knowledge and skills- Parts and automotive system knowledge skills- ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent - Ability to execute and train advanced solution, project and product quality recommendations- Ability to source from numerous places including special order, FDO, second source, etc.- Ability to execute and train all store operational processes and procedures, and testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services- Ability to execute and train inventory systems and store equipment - Ability to execute and train POS and Parts lookup systems- Ability to review and analyze P&L statement

Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as an Assistant General Manager- Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred- Speak and write English (bi-lingual a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and upper management - Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required - PowerPoint preferred)- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent- Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P&L)- Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and give feedback in a way that is inspiring- Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed Prior Experience that Sets a Manager In Training up for Success - 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10 - 20 Team Members in a fast-paced and highly dynamic retail environment - Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen

Education- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Bachelor's degree in business or a related area preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations- ASE certification preferred, but not required

What is a Salesperson?

Entry level sales position capable of supporting the DIY business and achieve our sales and service objectives. The role has good knowledge of store systems, basic automotive system knowledge and basic part knowledge. The role has the basic ability to source from stores, hubs, pdq, and external suppliers. The role has in-depth knowledge of the store inventory and maintenance processes. Position can be part time or full time. Fleet safety certification preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls

  • Achieve personal sales goal and help store achieve its sales goals

  • Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.

  • Maintain store product and operational standards

  • Responsible for inventory processes including truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, Back stock, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Dress standard, follows the Advance/ CarQuest Store uniform policy.

  • Support Professional customers with use of Weblink,WorldPac and other electronic part catalogs:

  • Assist Professional customer associates in understanding how to use e-catalog look up and ordering systems; Provide Weblink specification sheets for Professional customers reconditioning vehicles; Access on-line sources when information on late model cars that take special fluids is needed.

  • Manage inventory of stocked parts:

  • Identifying product that needs to be stocked at Professional customer's location; Assist Parts Manager / Supply Lead with daily stock orders and removing aged product; Help receive and put away stock orders.

  • Source and order requested parts for Professional customers mechanical repair processes:

  • Monitor delivery times on Aftermarket and Fast Moving Parts and look for opportunities to improve service levels; Sourcing OE product where Professional customer does not have good dealership relationships; Assist in sourcing and ordering recycled parts back ordered or difficult to find parts.

  • Follow up on ordered product ETA's:

  • Provide communication to the Store General Manager regarding service and/or inventory issues.

  • Tracking of RTVs, cores, and any warranties for prompt resolution.

  • Attend Professional customer Production meetings as requested by the local Professinal customer management team.

  • Reduce OE spend:

  • Work with Professional customer Parts or Supply Associates to identify product that is being bought from OE car dealers that may be available through intercompany supply channels; Coordinate product information and awareness training to help Technician's comfort levels that they are getting OE comparable product; Assist Professional customer associates in reviewing cars that are in wholesale for potential parts that otherwise may be sourced from the OE car dealers.

  • Identify cars that are in parts hold and look for solutions to help get these cars in parts ready.

  • Review the Pending list of cars coming into to be reconditioned and verify that the basic market basket of product is available in stock.

  • Manage hardware program:

  • Identifying product that needs to be stocked at Professional Customer / serving CARQUEST store; Check stock levels and prepare suggested stock orders twice a week or more as needed; Help receive and put away hardware orders.

  • Provide Feedback regarding any issues, concerns, and opportunities to Professional customer management team.

  • Anticipate Professional customer needs and offer potential solutions.

At Advance Auto Parts, a Customer Account Manager (CAM) sells or oversees the selling of automotive products for repair or distribution to automotive repair shops and other commercial businesses. Under general supervision this position drives the Company truck or automobile over an established route(s) to deliver products and/or picks up returned merchandise. Additionally, this position fulfills all shipping and receiving functions within the warehouse.

AtAdvance Auto Parts, aRetail Parts Pro (RPP)is part of the management team and responsible for growing the sales of automotive parts and related merchandise in accordance with company standards. The Retail Parts Pros must be committed to inspiring our team, helping our customers succeed, and growing the retail business profitably and with integrity.

A Retail Parts Pro at Advance Auto Parts is responsible for:

Essential Job Skills needed to be a Successful Retail Parts Pro include ability to:

  • Work with General Manager to produce a consistently winning store

  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

  • Build strong relationships (team, customers, peers, Store Support Center Team Members and supervisor)

  • Transfer parts knowledge to all store team members to help increase the stores product knowledge and sales

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and hold others accountable for their individual and store results.

  • Effectively execute all key tasks, critical to supporting our 4 key strategies (Transform DIY, Accelerate Commercial, Availability and Service Excellence), including attachment selling, selling premium parts, etc.

  • Maintain high standards of customer service and create a superior customer experience for each customer by promptly greeting them and helping them locate the right merchandise for their project

  • Maintain and develop a comprehensive product knowledge

  • Maintain an awareness of and achieve maximum results on all promotions and advertisements

  • Execute merchandise moves, stocking and display with high housekeeping standards

  • Participate in inventories and periodic cycle counts

  • Ring sales at register and provide prompt and expedient service

  • Build customer loyalty and aid customers in locating the right merchandise for their project

  • Use computers accurately and effectively

  • Work well in a diverse, fast-paced and results-oriented retail environment

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working with the General Manager to lead the store team and grow the retail business in conformity with the company's 4 key strategies and 3 core values

  • Maintains rapport with current retail customers in order to keep abreast of their needs

  • Consistently provides professional, courteous and prompt customer service to both retail and commercial customers, utilizing parts experience and knowledge to insure complete customer satisfaction

  • Delegates or completes the marking and storing of parts in stockroom according to prearranged system

  • Assists in managing inventory and the appearance of Parts Department

  • Completes all required training materials, attends all scheduled company meetings, and meets or exceed all assigned sales goals or quotas

  • Utilizes a strong knowledge of automotive systems, categories of merchandise, warranties, and Company Policies to make recommendations and suggestions to customers to gain their confidence and business

  • Thorough understanding of automotive principles and the ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions

  • Performs other assigned store duties that include, but are not limited to, stocking, cleaning, sales, customer service, cashiering, truck loading/unloading, delivering, and inventory management

  • Demonstrating an eagerness to be a team player and assist in other functions as assigned by the store management team

Work Schedule:

  • Must have a flexible schedule that would allow you to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed to provide quality service and grow the business profitably and with integrity.

Career RequirementsRetail Parts ProPrior Experience that sets a Professional Sales Associate up for Greater Success

  • 3-5 years of prior automotive parts experience is preferred

  • 2-3 years of previous management experience is preferred

  • History of successful job performance

  • Working knowledge of automotive systems

  • Diagnostic ability to include: internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronic, exhaust, and all other related systems for an automobile

  • ASE certification preferred, but not required

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and highly dynamic work environment

  • Must possess good verbal communications skills, including good salesmanship abilities

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to become fleet safety certified

Education/License Requirements:

  • High School diploma and/or GED

The role has the responsibility to deliver parts to our commercial customers and assist with task and inventory processes in the store.
