CarMax Accounting is seeking a talented individual with a passion for business and a desire to develop into a strong business leader. This 10-week project-based summer internship at our Home Office is designed to expose current college students to a corporate accounting environment and provide a valuable hands-on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO - ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The work our interns perform is very similar to the work performed by our full-time Associates. This may include tasks in a variety of different functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, corporate accounting, fixed assets, financial reporting, etc. Responsibilities will be a mix of independent work and collaborative, cross-functional projects, and may include interactions with customers and/or vendors.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :

The purpose of this internship is to assist the CarMax Accounting Department drive execution through a variety of tasks ranging from special projects to recurring monthly and quarterly tactical items. Ideal candidates are those who are interested in:

• Obtaining a hands-on experience that will provide exposure to the different functions that combine to form a corporate accounting department

• Contributing to the goals that support our Accounting initiatives

• Contributing ideas and opinions to support our continuous improvement environment

• Developing technical and business skills

• Access to management and building relationships with our leadership team and other associates outside of accounting

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :

CarMax is seeking a Coordinator II in Central Business Operations at our Home Office in Richmond, Virginia. The Coordinator II role plays a critical part in making inventory saleable for CarMax. Coordinator II Associates utilize multiple forms of effective communication and detailed record keeping as they work with a variety of internal and external business partners. Central Business Operations is a collaborative and highly motivated team. What you will do - Essential Responsibilities

• Review accounts for information pertaining to title release, including payments, documents necessary for resale, any resources that would supply title information and update progress in CarMax systems.

• Collect, secure titles and/or documentation from lenders and auctions needed for resale by obtaining status updates until receipt of title.

• Establish and maintain contacts and processes through relationship building with lenders and auctions, focusing on continuous improvement as it pertains to title collection process.

• Work with internal business partners which could include store management team, purchasing team and accounting areas to assist with any obstacles in obtaining the title.

• Serve as the point of contact for CarMax locations for title questions and assistance needed to obtain necessary documents.

• Escalate issues to appropriate individuals both internal and external.

• Utilize department reports to understand productivity, priorities or items that need to be addressed and schedule/organize individual work accordingly

Purpose of the role

The Coordinator II, Central Business Operations is responsible for ensuring the release of title to CarMax from off-site auctions and lien holders. BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY :

The Senior Analyst, Mail Operations will primarily be focused on Mail Operations systems administration and reporting for CarMax. Summary:

Peer leader to Business Office Associates, responsible for cash management, processing and auditing of paperwork associated with sales, and providing exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

• Mentors Business Office Associates assisting them with their development and training

• Assists store personnel and all store departments in their daily functions while adhering to CarMax guidelines

• Participates in the rotation of the -Manager on Duty- role - responsible for delegating and directing the business office work flow, answering questions related to transactions, handling customer issues/concerns and following up on delegated business office work tasks

• Delegates and follows up on various business office tasks

• Provides customer service by listening, answering customer questions and explaining paperwork process

• Processes paperwork associated with retail automobile sales including printing daily reports, maintaining deal jackets, contacting finance companies regarding contracts, obtaining required information regarding registration and titling, and auditing completed paperwork

• Processes paperwork associated with an appraisal lane purchase including title collection calls and follow up, obtaining proper paperwork and signatures from customers and sending appropriate documentation to Corporate for funding of drafts

• Manages cash including receiving and counting money, distributing funds, preparing deposits and handling of the safe with considerations to security

• Processes paperwork affiliated with the state DMV. This includes submitting paperwork necessary to title and register a vehicle for a customer after the sale

• Clerical responsibilities including copying, filing and answering phones

• May assist in hiring process by attending job fairs and performing interviews in partnership with a manager
