CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Project Manager to serve as a local transportation group leader taking on a broad range of responsibilities supporting quality delivery, sales growth, and an unmatched client experience. The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of our project management plan, assist in building and maintaining effective and meaningful client relationships, and engage in the process of pursuit planning and execution. This position embodies the seller-doer model, functioning as a champion for the growth and development of our local transportation design practice while providing significant sales support to our Client Service Leader (CSL). Qualified candidates will also have the background and capability to add complex roadway and/or bridge design projects to our ever-expanding project portfolio. Job Description:
- Assists the Client Service Leader (CSL) in developing long term strategies to identify and pursue additional business opportunities with key clients.
- Serves as a pursuit champion utilizing the CDM Smith WINS process. Assists the CSL to work with the pursuit team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads interview and proposal presentations to the client as well as general presentations within the industry.
- Develops and nurtures key client relationships as a primary company contact on assigned projects. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
- Collaborates with office and area leadership in solving challenges and ensuring business objectives are met.
- Responsible for financial performance on projects. Proactive management of cash, budget, schedule and project scope to ensure adherence to project goals and completion to the client's satisfaction.
- Executes priorities, obtains commitments, and engages required resources through collaboration with the PMs, CSL, Project Management & Commercial Leader (PMCL), Area Leaders, Technical Delivery Manager, Regional Team Leader and Discipline Leaders to staff projects according to project work plans.
- Leads and mentors the local team to achieve overall project objectives.
- Partners with other local leaders in the responsibility for determining project staffing needs including, but not limited to recruitment, hiring, career development, retention and succession of project staff.
- Leads pursuits of complex projects and/or actively involved as part of the pursuit team for these projects.
- Works to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation of the local design team to work as a cohesive unit.
- Obtain Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification within 1 year of hire date through CDM Smith's Global Delivery Excellence Framework (GDEF) program
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- P.E., Professional Engineer, certification.
- Previous business development experience, for transportation projects in IN.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or related engineering discipline.
