CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group. This position presents an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to apply their engineering skills to innovative and sustainable water projects and to grow within a dynamic team. In this role, you will support the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and associated infrastructure. Operating under direct supervision, you will ensure designs meet client specifications and comply with federal, state, and local regulatory standards. Responsibilities include conducting site assessments, adjusting design parameters as needed, and conducting water quality analyses and modeling. You will also contribute to technical report preparation, documentation, and collaborate on presentations for client meetings and industry conferences. You will join CDM Smith's growing, cross-discipline strategic communications team as a subject matter expert, leading a team developing communications for FEMA resiliency and risk reduction projects.

The Disaster Engineering Specialist:

- Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage to include: taking photographs, making site sketches, and writing detailed damage descriptions. Develops and reviews scopes of work and cost estimates, including code and standard requirements.

- Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.

- Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility. Develops or evaluates hazard mitigation proposals and benefit-cost analyses. Works with applicants to prioritize their projects, facilitates applicant meetings throughout the program delivery and recovery stages, and communicates the final determination to the applicants.

- Provides analyses and updates reports, participates in status update meetings with FEMA, and identifies the need for technical specialists.
