CDM Smith has an exciting, immediate opening for an experienced and driven client-focused Emergency Management Discipline Leader to support our Program Services team in growing our Emergency Management business. In this position, you will manage and lead multi-discipline planning, disaster recovery, and grant administration teams for federal, state and local government agencies and public utilities. As a strategic member of this team, you will have direct access to engineering and construction leaders across the organization and will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, company management, administrators, project engineers, and vendors, and the industry's best emergency services providers. Assignments range from execution of projects to client relationship building, and supporting or leading proposal efforts.
Successful candidate will be responsible for:
- As a subject matter expert, be responsible for performing technical tasks including, but not limited to, preparing emergency action plans, procedures, federal and local policy documents; developing and organize short- and long-term recovery strategies and execution plans and programs pre- and post-disaster; initiating and maintaining relationships with funding recipients and potential recipients; initiating and maintaining relationships with potential subcontractors or industry partners; assisting clients with strategizing on the approaches and best practices to meet their recovery goals and creating funding action plans
- Under limited guidance from the Practice Leader, work effectively with client sales leaders, technical strategy leaders, regional team leaders and project managers to position, secure, and deliver quality projects. Identify opportunities, lead marketing and proposal efforts, and lead project delivery teams.
- Prepare, update and maintain the business strategy/business plan for growth in the Emergency Management market. Promote and champion the business line services of emergency preparedness planning, short- and long-term disaster recovery, grant and funding application, compliance and closeout. Identify staffing and hiring needs for current backlog and future opportunities.
- Work effectively with key technical specialists, project team members, delivery managers, and subcontractors. Assist with the coordination and development of plans, procedures, emergency action plans and related documents. Plan and prepare project budgets and schedules as a technical leader. Facilitate effective communication between technical team members and project leadership.
- Responsible for leading the Emergency Management Community of Practice (CoP), mentoring staff, staff technical development and engagement in industry organizations.
- Contributing to the firm's stature by actively participating in leadership roles in the community and/or relevant industry organizations (such as International Association of Emergency Managers)

CDM Smith is looking for a Senior Project Manager with experience delivering water reclamation and/or water resuse projects. You will be working jointly and collaboratively with our technical specialists and our in-house construction team in Southern California to deliver on high-profile and exciting projects. Design-build experience is preferred.
Applicants should reside and work primarily in the following locations: Los Angeles, CA, Carlsbad, CA, or Irvine, CA. Applicants will perform the responsibilities of the Project Manager: create project scope of work, schedules, work breakdown structure, budgets, and objectives; prepare project invoicing, and monitor project performance. Ensure project documentation is complete in the project files.
Your responsibilities:
Be able to maintain a minimum of $1 million in revenues with strong profit performance.
Experience with leading a multi-discipline team with several subconsultants.
Utilize project management tools for monitoring project finances, schedule, and risk; implement strategies to control scope creep, mitigate risk, and manage client expectations.

In this position, you will manage and lead multi-discipline planning, disaster recovery, and grant administration teams for federal, state and local government agencies and public utilities. As a strategic member of this team, you will have direct access to engineering and construction leaders across the organization and will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, company management, administrators, project engineers, and vendors, and the industry's best emergency services providers. Successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Prepare, update and maintain the business strategy/business plan for growth in the Emergency Management market. CDM Smith is looking for a Senior Project Manager with experience delivering water reclamation and/or water resuse projects. You will be working jointly and collaboratively with our technical specialists and our in-house construction team in Southern California to deliver on high-profile and exciting projects. Design-build experience is preferred.
Applicants should reside and work primarily in the following locations: Los Angeles, CA, Carlsbad, CA, or Irvine, CA. Applicants will perform the responsibilities of the Project Manager: create project scope of work, schedules, work breakdown structure, budgets, and objectives; prepare project invoicing, and monitor project performance. Ensure project documentation is complete in the project files.
Your responsibilities:
Be able to maintain a minimum of $1 million in revenues with strong profit performance.
Experience with leading a multi-discipline team with several subconsultants.
Utilize project management tools for monitoring project finances, schedule, and risk; implement strategies to control scope creep, mitigate risk, and manage client expectations.
Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard engineering or construction techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Follow CDM Smith's quality procedures. Review all draft deliverables for conformance with the contractual scope of work.
Clearly communicate project deadlines, assignments, and objectives to project team members.
Build, maintain, and manage strong client relationships. Ensure client satisfaction by delivering quality, on-time project outcomes as a result of good planning and organizational skills; manage client expectations.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and efficient decision-making.
Work collaboratively with sales leaders to evaluate potential new work and supports the scoping and costing effort.
Manage project change using change management protocols; determine appropriate changes or alternate paths based upon performance and metrics.
Work in conjunction with team members and internal and external stakeholders to manage changes to requirements and schedule of the project.
Provide guidance to engineers, drafters/designers, craft workers, other project team members, contractors, or subcontractors.
Ensure proper review of project scope by safety managers and proper implementation of safety plans. Provide timely response to audit corrective actions identified by external or internal audits.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including communicating project goals and requirements to the project team and clearly articulating project expectations.
Develop and implement project resource plan and manage the staffing of assigned projects.
Determine and coordinate the proper staffing within the project including identification of outside resources needed (subs/vendors) and ensures procurement processes are followed.
Ensure timely client payment and follow up on outstanding client invoices to obtain payment.
Review and approve subcontractor/vendor invoices to ensure timely payment to outside resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.

In this position, you will manage and lead multi-discipline planning, disaster recovery, and grant administration teams for federal, state and local government agencies and public utilities. As a strategic member of this team, you will have direct access to engineering and construction leaders across the organization and will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, company management, administrators, project engineers, and vendors, and the industry's best emergency services providers. Assignments range from execution of projects to client relationship building, and supporting or leading proposal efforts.
Successful candidate will be responsible for:
- As a subject matter expert, be responsible for performing technical tasks including, but not limited to, preparing emergency action plans, procedures, federal and local policy documents; developing and organize short- and long-term recovery strategies and execution plans and programs pre- and post-disaster; initiating and maintaining relationships with funding recipients and potential recipients; initiating and maintaining relationships with potential subcontractors or industry partners; assisting clients with strategizing on the approaches and best practices to meet their recovery goals and creating funding action plans

CDM Smith is looking for a Senior Project Manager with experience delivering water reclamation and/or water resuse projects. You will be working jointly and collaboratively with our technical specialists and our in-house construction team in Southern California to deliver on high-profile and exciting projects. Design-build experience is preferred.
Applicants should reside and work primarily in the following locations: Los Angeles, CA, Carlsbad, CA, or Irvine, CA. Applicants will perform the responsibilities of the Project Manager: create project scope of work, schedules, work breakdown structure, budgets, and objectives; prepare project invoicing, and monitor project performance. Ensure project documentation is complete in the project files.
Your responsibilities:
Be able to maintain a minimum of $1 million in revenues with strong profit performance.
Experience with leading a multi-discipline team with several subconsultants.
Utilize project management tools for monitoring project finances, schedule, and risk; implement strategies to control scope creep, mitigate risk, and manage client expectations.
Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard engineering or construction techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Follow CDM Smith's quality procedures. Review all draft deliverables for conformance with the contractual scope of work.
Clearly communicate project deadlines, assignments, and objectives to project team members.
Build, maintain, and manage strong client relationships. Ensure client satisfaction by delivering quality, on-time project outcomes as a result of good planning and organizational skills; manage client expectations.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and efficient decision-making.
Work collaboratively with sales leaders to evaluate potential new work and supports the scoping and costing effort.
Manage project change using change management protocols; determine appropriate changes or alternate paths based upon performance and metrics.
Work in conjunction with team members and internal and external stakeholders to manage changes to requirements and schedule of the project.
Provide guidance to engineers, drafters/designers, craft workers, other project team members, contractors, or subcontractors.
Ensure proper review of project scope by safety managers and proper implementation of safety plans. Provide timely response to audit corrective actions identified by external or internal audits.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including communicating project goals and requirements to the project team and clearly articulating project expectations.
Develop and implement project resource plan and manage the staffing of assigned projects.
Determine and coordinate the proper staffing within the project including identification of outside resources needed (subs/vendors) and ensures procurement processes are followed.
Ensure timely client payment and follow up on outstanding client invoices to obtain payment.
Review and approve subcontractor/vendor invoices to ensure timely payment to outside resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
