Job Description

We believe in the power and joy of learning

At Cengage Group, our employees have a direct impact in helping students around the world discover the power and joy of learning. We are bonded by our shared purpose - driving innovation that helps millions of learners improve their lives and achieve their dreams through education.

Our culture values diversity, engagement, and discovery

Our business is driven by our strong culture, and we know that creating an inclusive and diverse workplace is absolutely essential to the success of our company and our learners, as well as our individual well-being. We recognize the value of diverse perspectives in everything we do, and strive to ensure employees of all levels and backgrounds feel empowered to voice their ideas and bring their authentic selves to work. We achieve these priorities through inclusive programs, benefits, and initiatives that are integrated into the fabric of how we work every day. To learn more, please see https://www.cengagegroup.com/about/inclusion-and-diversity/.

What the role entails:

This is a highly cross-functional role that works with multiple teams to deliver high fidelity quantitative and qualitative consumer insights. This role is best suited for someone that can flex between running a complex survey design as well as being able to conduct qualitative user experience research. The major activities for this role are centered around leading the research process, proper execution of research projects, and accurate analysis & presentation of results to provide useful recommendations.

What you'll do:

  • Autonomously craft, program, synthesize, and deliver research initiatives from beginning to end. This includes: collaborating with internal team members to convert business strategy into research objectives, identifying knowledge gaps, and proposing appropriate research methodology to gain the needed insights.

  • Be a crucial member for the conversion rate optimization effort. This includes, setting up site intercept surveys, A/B testing, moderated and un-moderated user prototype testing. And analyzing digital marketing metrics on lead generation, cart abandonment, and enrollment conversion.

  • Support high impact quantitative research initiatives across functions, including product, technology, strategy, and our go-to-market teams (marketing, sales, service). These projects will likely require advanced quantitative and analytical expertise. Sometimes these projects may also require qualitative and secondary research to robustly understand and validate insights.

  • Synthesize data to build impactful reports, presentations, and research assets. Clearly communicate research results and recommendations to internal partners.

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • Experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodology. Hard-working and passionate about research with an eagerness to apply emerging research methodologies to improve the learner experience.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain sophisticated analysis in simple terms.

  • Able to efficiently balance multiple projects at a time while meeting delivery deadline. A problem-solver with a results-orientated approach, attention to detail and desire to produce work with minimal errors.

  • Able to proactively think out-of-the-box to bring the consumer to life in an impactful way. This includes, delivering measurable insight and deep consumer understanding of motivations, attitudes, and behaviors.

  • Collaborative partner with an understanding of how to deliver both personal and team goals. Capacity to work independently or as part of a team with a -get stuff done- mentality.

  • Able to self-manage progress against achievements and results with a high degree of accountability and personal urgency.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Master's or other advanced degree with a strong background in Human Computer Interaction, business, market research, or behavioral sciences (e.g., Business Administration, Math, Statistics, Psychology, Educational Measurement, Quantitative Sociology, Behavioral Economics/Decision Sciences)

  • 5+ years of experience conducting mixed method research, UX research experience is a plus. Past experience at a research agency is a plus.

  • Expert user of digital research and project management tools: Optimizely, Google Analytics, UserZoomGo, Hot Jar, Content/Message testing tools, Qualtrics, ethnio, online qualitative discussion boards/focus groups, etc.

Cengage Group is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
