  • Work on behalf of the Client to resolve construction related field issues

  • Communicate and provide recommendation for field issues/conflicts/changes to owner

  • Maintains and reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly payment estimates.

  • Coordinate and monitor material testing, air balance testing and systems testing. Monitor Commissioning process including equipment testing, functional performance tests and building integration of inter-related systems. Monitor deficiency logs to assure follow up of re-testing and system performance.

  • Coordinate with existing maintenance staff and operations when utility outages, noise control, traffic control or security is required by the work. Attend pre-outage planning meetings

  • Monitor project close-out procedures including O&M manuals, as-builts, punchlists, and warranty walk-through. Issue punchlists for above ceiling, open wall and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies

  • Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out/tag- out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.)

  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

  • Demonstrate independent and effective problem solving/decision making.

Position summary: Responsible for direct daily interaction with TxDOT ALD staff and leadership, requiring strong communication skills, organization, and time management. Your efforts are focused on the Alternative Delivery Projects in one or multiple stages of the project lifecycle. These include pre-procurement, procurement, Implementation, and Maintenance. ALD Projects utilize the Design Build method of delivery to deliver large-scale $250M to $4B transportation projects across Texas. While projects are statewide, this role can be staffed from any JMT office.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Working on Pre-procurement, Procurement phase of a projects life cycle,

  • Experience with Design Build Project Management Plans review,

  • Provide Programmatic recommendations and training on Implementation of a Design Build project,

  • Manage a Project Management task,

  • Direct coordination with ALD staff,

  • Coordination of project schedule and budget,

  • Project reporting to ALD, and

  • Teach staff about Design Build delivery

Required SkillsRequired Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 10+ years of related experience in related projects.

  • Professional Engineer License

  • Experience with Design Build Transportation projects

  • Experience working with local clients at the state and federal level.

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. A career-minded Water/Wastewater engineer, looking for growth and advancement, is needed to join JMT's fast growing water/wastewater consultant engineering practice. The selected candidate will work with a team of experienced project managers and professional engineers working on exciting water/wastewater pipeline, pump station, and peer review projects.

Compensation is $38-45/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior engineers in a multi-disciplinary team to develop construction plans and specifications for various design projects

  • Assist with development of technical evaluation memoranda

  • Prepare engineering cost estimates

  • Prepare design drawings using 3D design tools

Required Skills

  • Candidates must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment, build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions.

  • Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with hydraulic designs, water and wastewater pipeline design, engineering economics, preparation of specifications and engineering report writing.

  • The water/wastewater engineer must demonstrate organized practices, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have flexibility to support time-critical report development and production in order to meet demanding schedules.

  • Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and MS Project are a plus.

Required Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering

  • 0-4 years experience

    Preferred Experience

  • A passing grade on the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam

  • 2-4 years' related experience

  • Organize documents

  • Schedule monthly Office Meetings, coordinate presenters and prepare draft agenda

    Office Space
