Vaughn & Melton, a JMT company, is seeking a senior level Project Engineer to add to their growing Highways Team in Asheville, North Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. They will also act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
Perform design computations
Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
Develop construction cost estimates
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
Prepare proposals as required
Attend meetings with clients
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
Required Skills
Proficient in roadway design software (GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
5-10 years' experience in highway design and engineering
NC Professional Engineer License preferred
Experience working with local clients at the county and state level preferred
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.

Participate in client presentation

Research websites and business publications in search of project opportunities for professional services. When opportunities are found, enter data for these opportunities into marketing database (CRM), tracking leads and associated go/no go decisions, and wins or losses.

Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and quality-oriented Architect with a minimum of 10 years of experience who is interested in taking an important role in the JMT Architecture group. This position will focus primarily on Federal and Department of Defense projects and clients but may include airfield/airport and transportation/transit projects. A bachelor's degree in anthropology or a related field and prior experience in all phases of archaeological investigation are required. JMT is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join JMT's Water Resources Department in Texas to lead projects and mentor junior staff. The Engineer will execute projects across Texas' geographical footprint working alongside staff in multiple locations. This position is open to candidates in JMT's Round Rock, McKinney, Houston, or San Antonio offices.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Coordinate with clients, external team members, and internal team members to ensure project completion and quality of deliverables
Performs engineering designs and oversees/reviews the designs of junior staff
Assures quality control and oversees the development of design computations
Performs interdisciplinary reviews and coordination with the project team
Manage and oversee the completion of Schematic Impact reports and PS&E projects for complex H&H designs

Required Skills
Understanding of complex stormwater and drainage concepts
MicroStation and/or AutoCAD drafting experience
Strong oral and written communication skills for preparation of project reports
Ability to lead and serve as technical advisor in leading and training junior engineering staff

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Texas Professional Engineer License or the ability to receive a License within 16 months of hire
7+ years of experience in drainage engineering
2+ years of design oversite and training junior staff
Experience in TXDOT drainage design for TXDOT transportation projects (or other DOTs)
Familiar with TXDOT Design Standards and TXDOT Drainage Manual
Experience with GEOPAK Drainage and HEC-RAS roadway drainage and stormwater management design
2-D HEC-RAS, SWMM, ARC-GIS experience preferred
Erosion and sediment control design preferred
Edwards Aquifer/TCEQ water quality design preferred
Familiarity with watersheds CLOMR/LOMR and FEMA floodplain mapping preferred
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25-lbs) may be required as needed.

The Intern will work directly under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to complete an array of Civil Site and Roadway related design tasks. Individual responsibilities will include plan reviews, CADD modification of engineering drawings, and computations. The position will entail technical work focusing on natural resource surveys and documentation, with an emphasis on transportation and pipeline projects. Working Conditions
The preferred candidate should enjoy working in the outdoors as required to complete job tasks. Field work is required approximately 50% of the time and will require but may not be limited to certain physical demands while performing duties in the field. These physical requirements will include the ability to walk, stand, kneel, or bend for extended periods of time and be able to carry field equipment and supplies long distances. Field work may be conducted during any time of the year and may occur in a variety of weather and climate conditions, as needed. The candidate is not required to perform field work in hazardous weather conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed. Field work may require travel within the continental U.S. and require up to a week away from the office at a time.
