Research Assistant (Lab Scientist I) -Immunology & Immunotoxicity
Join the Immunology and Immunotoxicology team at Greenfield Labcorp.
In this position, you'll work with animal research studies' test articles, performing immunology assays, cell-based assays, and flow cytometry assays. Duties include and not limited to.
Conducts routine and non-routine sample analysis from preclinical animal research studies in compliance with GLP, applicable methods, protocols, SOPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
Documents work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
Performs routine and non-routine maintenance on general equipment.
Provides input and participates in project meetings.
Performs QC review of data.
Reports any difficulties, unexpected findings, and deviations that may affect the integrity of the data to the Study Director/Manager, Principal Investigator/Contributing Scientist, and/or management of and participates in corrective action of problems.
Displays understanding of theory and ability to set up and perform practical requirements for routine and non-routine assays and for the instruments used
Develops working knowledge to assist in performing validations of various Immunotoxicology assays.
Accepts responsibility for ensuring a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
Prioritize workloads on a daily basis, contributing to a team environment and culture of care.
Participates in client visits/audits as required.
Ensures that chemicals and reagents are correctly labeled and associated documentation is available.
Builds a comprehensive range of I&I procedures.
Develops knowledge to assist in writing text for methods or protocols.
Experience/Skills/Qualifications
A bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in life science, such as biology, microbiology, or a related field, is preferred. However, 2+ years of related work experience in conjunction with education may qualify in lieu of the educational requirement.
Highly prefer candidates with several months of GLP experience performing Immunologic assays, cell-based assays or flow cytometry.
3-6-month internship or work experience in Immunology & Immunotoxicity helpful but not required.
Ability to prioritize work requirements and show self-starter initiation on projects with a strong degree of initiation.
Passion for learning and developing skills in relation to I & I research.
Strong knowledge of general laboratory procedures such as pipetting extraction, western blot, and PCR

Lab Scientist II (Research Assistant) Immunology & Immunotoxicity

What will you be doing?
You'll be working with test articles from animal research studies, performing immunology assays, cell-based assays, and flow cytometry assays. In conjunction with conducting routine and non-routine sample analysis. Typical duties include and not limited to;
Perform immunoassays, flow cytometry analysis, and mammalian and bacterial cell cultures.
Compile results and prepare technical reports and documentation of outcomes.
Conducts routine and non-routine sample analysis from preclinical animal research studies in compliance with GLP, applicable methods, protocols, SOPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
Documents work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
Performs routine and non-routine maintenance on general equipment.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Associate degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is highly preferred
ASCP or AMT certification is required
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

The Sequenom division of LabCorp, focused on women's healthcare tests and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician! Under supervision of licensed personnel, the Technician will assist with routine and specialty clinical laboratory testing responsibilities and provide general support for all aspects of the operation of the clinical laboratory while following established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
Identify, prioritize, and prepare all clinical samples while ensuring viability and sample integrity throughout the test process
Maintains inventory and organization of specimen samples in the freezer
Prepares and label tubes according to established protocols
Prepare clinical samples for testing and identify sample related issues
Accession samples and enter data into the laboratory information system
Assist coordinating documentation
Monitor and maintain consumable inventory including reagents and supplies for each of the laboratory work stations.
Performs general laboratory, equipment, and benchtop clean-up
Prepare logs or other documents for routine testing or special assignments
Adhere to quality control guidelines to ensure integrity of laboratory specimens
Provide assistance to licensed CLS personnel who are performing test protocols using established procedures
Under the direct supervision of a licensed CLS, dispenses pre-made and prequalified reagents/controls using a pre-programmed fixed volume measuring devices.
Provides laboratory support in the daily maintenance and surface decontamination of general laboratory equipment
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other related scientific discipline required
Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory highly preferred
Experience with molecular biology techniques highly desired
Knowledge of general laboratory processes and medical terminology required
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office required
Ability to maintain production and quality standards determined by the clinical laboratory
Must be able to work with whole blood or blood by-products and comply with safety policies and procedures outlined in laboratory procedures and safety training provided
Must be able to perform repetitive tasks frequently as required throughout the day

Internship Assignment Summary:
Collects, receives and processes all specimens received in to the department such that they are ready for analysis. Archives and stores specimens post analysis. Monitors and maintains inventory in laboratory areas.

Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing
Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing
Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples

Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary

Job Responsibilities
Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required
ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

Provide superior customer service to all patients
Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
Travel to additional sites when needed
Job Requirements:
Must have valid Washington issued Phlebotomy License or have an application for Phlebotomy License filed with Washington Department of Health at time of hire
Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred
Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Comfortable working under minimal supervision
Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable
Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

The Lakewood lab receives hundreds of Anatomic Pathology samples daily. Accessioning, processing and sign out of cases all occur onsite.
Internship Assignment Summary:
Learn to accession AP samples
Familiarize with cytology and histology processes, learn what it takes to make a diagnosis for patients.

Working towards bachelor's degree in science (biology or chemistry)

Job Responsibilities:
Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions
Screening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides
Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and workload policies
Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines
Maintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results
Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure
Finalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely manner
Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed
Comply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policies
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university
Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program
ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification is required
Prior experience working in Cytology is preferred
ThinPrep and SurePath certifications is a plus
Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test
Demonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques
Automated and non-automated testing experience is preferred
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
Ability to work independently or within a team
Highly organized and strong attention to detail
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
