In this position, you will work in a patient focused, fast paced, and inspiring environment. As a Technologist Trainee for the Toxicology department, you will receive on-the-job training for the pre-analytical through post-analytical set-up and testing of patient samples. This laboratory performs high complexity testing for pain management and medical monitoring assisted programs in urine samples. This test contains 180+ analytes in one assay. Responsibilities will also include the instrumentation / data analysis of separate ancillary LCMS/MS confirmation methods outside of this panel.

Shift : 1st

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm ( Some Overtime is required)

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receive specimens for testing; evaluate specimens and test orders; determine priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turn-around-time; recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriately.

  • Work with a variety of instrument and software platforms including Hamilton/Nimbus automated extraction instruments, Immunoassay chemistry analyzers, LCMS Instrumentation, and Data Review through a cloud-based software system.

  • Adhere to SOPs while performing extractions and analysis on client samples, quality control samples and proficiency samples.

  • Maintain, calibrate and clean instrumentation; perform scheduled/routine maintenance and critical function checks; recognize significant changes in instrument function; troubleshoot as indicated.

  • Follow quality control rules; monitor controls for error detection and take corrective action; maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control logs, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.

  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy (Immunoassay and LCMS); recognize and correct errors and unusual results (individual patient as well as paired sets of patients); interpret results to produce a final report; use GDP in all documentation.

  • Deliver accurate high quality patient care while maintaining efficiency.

  • Follow a proactive approach to assay performance and instrument performance to prevent downtime and delay of reporting results to clients and patients.

  • Evaluate, use and/or prepare laboratory reagents, standards and quality controls according to established department standard operating procedures and established timeframes.

  • Participate in the instruction and training of others; demonstrate and/or explain the testing process to others or observe the testing process as performed by others.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

LabCorp seeking a Service Representative/Courier to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. In this position, you will be responsible for the pickup, transport, and delivery of medical specimens, lab supplies, and reports, while providing excellent service to our clients.

Included with this position is a company vehicle to use for the route. In addition, for only $100 per month, you will have the option of taking this vehicle home with you and using it for personal use.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 11:00am - 7:30pm

Work Location: Phoenix, AZ

  • Complete daily pick up schedule in a timely manner

  • Deliver all daily picks to your branch at the end of your shift

  • Handle all specimens and lab samples in a safe and efficient manner

  • Safely operate a company vehicle and obey all traffic laws

  • Utilize handheld electronic device to manage daily picks up

  • Work directly with the dispatcher for additional pick-ups as needed

  • Evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes, and weather conditions as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred

  • Must have a Valid Driver's License and clean driving record

  • Must be at least 21 years' old

  • Previous driver/courier experience is preferred

  • Customer service experience is a plus

  • Very punctual with strong time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to problem solve customer issues

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

The work schedule for this position will be 3rd shift; Tue-Sat 3am to 11:30am.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in clinical Immunology.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary Assist with processing of specimens when needed Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology constituting a biological science major) as required by CLIA

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required for Technologist level

  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Observe and report any performance, compliance or staffing related issues to supervisors

  • Manage and monitor patient flow, wait times, inventory levels and information logs

  • Monitor monthly productivity reports and report any deviations as necessary

Job Summary:

This is a multi-discipline position with 3 primary components: Specimen receiving, Sample sorting, Supply receipt. Receives and sorts laboratory specimens for laboratory analysis and testing and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. Identifies problems with specific specimens at the time of receipt. Follows standard operating procedures. Approved to perform tasks as described/approved in training and competency records contained in the employee's training binder.

Functional Responsibilities

Receives and tracks all incoming shipments.

Accurately records all specimens received and verifies that specimens are properly identified, bar-coded, scanned, and packaged completely and accurately according to departmental guidelines and timeframes.

Accurately and correctly unpacks and distributes shipments. Documents problems according to department protocol and timeframes.

Accessions samples as required, centrifuges and aliquots according to procedures.

Accurately and correctly aliquots samples and/or pulls original specimens for department according to established procedure. Properly places samples in appropriate bins in a timely manner

Performs eSIS audits to resolve any outstanding problems.

Typing/data entry accuracy required with no more than 2% error with 6,000 KSPH.

Ensures that all trash, biohazard, and recyclables are emptied according to company guidelines.

Maintains a clean work area and ensures that supplies are restocked.

Notifies Supervisor/Manager in a timely manner of those issues that are not within scope to resolve.

Maintains complete, accurate and up-to-date documents such as logs and reports.

Performs routine/preventative maintenance on designated equipment completely and accurately according to an established procedure such that the equipment is in optimal working condition.

Ensures a professional work environment is maintained.

Attendance meets departmental guidelines.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs daily worksheet preparation. This includes researching, reviewing for previous results and looking for potential duplicate specimens.

  • Using lab computer systems to track and pull patient samples for downstream testing (would require limited handling of sealed tubes containing whole blood, bone marrow and/or tissues).

  • Corresponding with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.

  • Communicating with Client Services to provide notification or delays in testing and/or gather missing information critical to testing.

  • Reviewing test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all necessary information is included.

  • Investigating and resolving problem samples, information request and specimen requests from other departments.

Education/Qualifications:

Job Responsibilities

  • Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam

  • Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens

  • Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide

  • Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections

  • Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures

  • Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens

  • Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures

  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

  • Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments

  • Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed

  • Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment

  • Immunohistochemistry experience is a plus

  • Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens

  • Ability to accurately read all labels and documents

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment is desirable
