TEST LAB ANALYST (STARSHIP AVIONICS)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain test solutions that will certify in-house developed electronic hardware for flight

  • Understand and modify automation software in Python to interact with units under test, test equipment, and instrumentation

  • Troubleshoot test software and modify code to adjust test parameters, output reports, fix minor bugs, and implement production improvements which do not require major changes to the software architecture

  • Troubleshoot test failures to identify source of non-conformances including failures due to software, test hardware, or device under test

  • Understand functionality and design concepts of flight hardware

  • Verify and approve production readiness of test hardware and software for new product introduction (NPI)

  • Interface with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale testing production challenges

  • Write and release work instructions for any off-nominal operations

  • Ensure all avionics flight hardware meets SpaceX and customer requirements at the conclusion of the testing process

  • Responsible for test readiness, resolving work stoppages, delegating associated tasks, and general progression of flight hardware through the testing process

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer science or aerospace engineering; or 5+ years of experience working in a test environment

  • 1+ years of experience in hardware and/or software testing environment (university project experience will be considered)

  • 1+ years of programming experience

  • Experience in any of the following languages: Python, C#, C++

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in design and/or production of mechanical or electronics hardware systems

  • Hands-on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and building the best hardware

  • Ability to create and deliver presentations for production readiness reviews

  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced iterative design environment

  • Basic competency with SQL databases

  • Ability to write and troubleshoot automation testing software

  • Knowledge of and experience with avionics hardware including: pressure transducers, gas sensors, controllers, antennae, flight computers, cameras, transmitters, receivers, and PCBAs

  • Subject matter expert level knowledge of Python or other programming language

  • Ability to troubleshoot programs and systems

  • Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques

  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment within the consumer electronics, mobile handset, medical, aerospace, marine or automotive industries.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed

  • Schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required
