JOB DESCRIPTION - SENIOR DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Location: Flexible, with international travel

Division: Ticketmaster Music

Line Manager: EVP, Music

Contract Terms: Permanent, 40 hours per week

THE TEAM

Ticketmaster Music develops, configures, and manages innovative and distinctive software solutions that capture and convert concert ticket demand, optimize prices, and provide key insights for the World's biggest touring artists, globally.

THE JOB

In this role you are responsible for developing strategies and priorities for new lines of business with a focus on live event demand generation/capture, direct to fan platforms for artists, and NFT/Web3 opportunities. To execute these strategies, you will identify product development and acquisition opportunities, and identify, assess, and structure complex partnerships.In addition to a deep understanding of both the music and live event industries, this role requires an understanding of and passion for Web 3.0 and how it can shape the future of both.

You will work closely with senior members of the Global Music organization and also work cross-company with Product, Finance, Marketing, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure a well-thought-out and executable plan is delivered and help drive executive approval on key initiatives.

You will represent Ticketmaster in key artist and partner interactions and define the deal structure for scalable and durable solutions to complex business opportunities. This role must leverage a deep understanding of risks, rewards, and negotiation skills to manage broad engagements across all business functions to provides breakthrough ideas and collaborate to close strategic or high-impact opportunities. You will resolve deal issues and establish best practices to drive process improvements. You will also coach and support junior colleagues as a go-to resource for negotiation.

This is a role with potential for high impact and direct exec level visibility. This position will report to the EVP, Global Music.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Lead Ticketmaster Music's strategy and business development efforts, with a particular emphasis on new artist-to-fan platforms

  • Advise leadership on key technology and product roadmap considerations

  • Develop the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Ticketmaster Music's web 3.0 partnership model including infrastructure and APIs

  • Work with product development teams across the company to understand when existing products and technologies can be leveraged, enhanced or built, or whether partnership or acquisition paths are more effective

  • Directly mange junior business development team members and work collaboratively with cross-functional groups, including, but not limited to, tour services, marketing, finance, event operations, legal, product teams, data teams, etc., to optimize new business initiatives

  • Identify emerging technologies, trends and players that can best support Music vision

  • Represent Ticketmaster to the music-tech industry and maintain strong and trusting relationships with key industry players

  • Create business value propositions based on company, partner, and/or artist needs that drive long-term value creation

  • Collaborate with artists, partners, and Ticketmaster colleagues to develop post-deal governance and oversee the creation and implementation of execution plans across a portfolio of deals within domains, industries, and/or geographies

  • Capture learnings to improve future pipeline and business value communication and course correct to maximize deal value and preemptively minimize risk

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • You have 7-10 years of business development OR equivalent experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, product management, or related field)

  • 1+ years working knowledge of NFTs, DAOs, and Web 3.0

  • Direct experience in artist to fan platforms/businesses is preferred

  • You have proven experience developing, implementing, and executing successful new business initiatives

  • You have outstanding communication and presentation skills and have demonstrated deal closing abilities

  • Strong industry relationships
