The Category Analyst atBatteries Plususes consumer and market knowledge to assist in the development and execution of category management and product management strategies as a member of the Category Management team. TheCategory Analystanalyzes customer and consumer data and researches to identify trends, key indicators, patterns and insights. This role will administer and develop a database of customer, research and industry information while deploying insight reporting used to support product development, category and brand management as well as sales initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Category Management
Develop knowledge of target consumers in order to understand the desired consumer experience. Act as the voice of the consumer, and use knowledge and data to anticipate consumer behavior to assist in the execution of product and category strategies.
Support category managers in developing and deploying category strategies that attain goals for each assigned product category
Assist with negotiating and implementing new programs with domestic vendors for assigned categories; participate in negotiations with entry level vendors
Evaluate pricing while identifying opportunities for profitability based on competition and category goals
Analysis
Review market information (applications and trends) for assigned categories and determine success factors for top items
Analyze store sales to provide direction on store assortment for responsible categories
Identify and report on top sellers and underperformers within assigned categories. Work with Category Manager to determine reasons for underperformance and potential strategies to leverage or increase sales and/or discontinue.
Category Expansion
Identify potential product line extensions, working with the category team and vendors to ensure timely arrival, accurate costing and successful product introduction
Partner with category team to develop product specifications, benchmarks, pricing, etc.
Ensure new items and updates are accurately entered into the master data system
Attend key trade shows to recommend new ideas, products and pricing
Store Assortment/Merchandising
Assist merchandising and category teams to update planograms to correspond with store assortment changes as needed
Partner with marketing to implement key signage programs related to responsible categories that will drive in store conversation and corresponding sales
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Marketing, Business or related field
2+ years product/market development, market research or related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related field
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites; specifically Microsoft Excel
