Responsibilities include: complete review of documentation, validating appropriate coding and diagnosis capture, analyzing educational trends, including related on-site support, training and education, application of tools and resources and action plan development with physician's/APC's and clinical operational leaders to ensure implementation of recommendations for overall documentation improvement; development, deployment and monitoring of coding policies/procedures, standards and educational materials for accurate, consistent, compliant documentation that results in timely, accurate coding, appropriate reimbursement and documentation integrity; provides technical support and guidance to Coding Services, Revenue Cycle and is the liaison between these areas and operational leadership; taking a forward-looking view, supported by a coding partner toolkit and high emotional intelligence, to articulate different options and influence key operational and strategic decisions; provides support, advice and analysis for Coding services and new business opportunities in the strategic and operational decision making for all coding aspects to drive better business performance and performs ad-hoc analysis and insights into specific issues; initiates, executes and manages coding documentation reviews and projects associated with acute ambulatory and inpatient entities; supports and reinforces key initiatives within the Coding Services and the Revenue Cycle through education and communication with operational leaders, physician's/APC's and senior leadership across Essentia Health; researching, creating and presenting educational materials for Coding services, Physician's/APC's, Section/Department meetings, operational leaders as well as senior leaders that is clear, concise, consistent and interactive for all Essentia Health entities, keeping in mind CQ&E's support of the One Mission, One Essentia strategy. Typically provide support to physicians/APC's in clinical departments of moderate to high coding/documentation complexity with moderate risk and scope. In this role, educators are expected to provide input and guidance to other members of the Coding Quality and Education team, proactively identify opportunities and work on projects with moderate to high complexity, risk and scope. They will be asked to lead projects, identify opportunities and develop recommendations for improvements and communicate with Operational leaders across Essentia. Travel to in-town and regional clinic sites required.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in health information management, healthcare, business or related field of study.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Credentialed as or eligible* for:AHIMA credential (RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information technician), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CPC -H (Certified Professional Coder - Hospital)).

AAPC credential (CPC (Certified Professional Coder)*Applicable credentialing required within two years of date of hire.
