Responsibilities Serves as the Accounting Technician in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) HQ location. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide range of technical accounting duties which enable the incumbent to resolve a variety of complex accounting and customer service issues. This is a developmental position. Work assignments are progressively complex and intended to broaden your skills and provide you with practical experience to prepare you to perform at the target grade level. Position responsibilities include: Resolve a variety of complex accounting and customer service issues. Supports various accounting and fiscal operations. Responsible for reviewing documents to ensure accuracy of accounting reports. Provides customer service to store employees, contractors, vendors and debit/ credit card patrons. Interprets inquiries and resolves discrepancies and complex problems Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications See the OPM Qualification Standards for more information. This position is covered under Clerical and Administrative Positions. To qualify for this position you must possess One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level. To be creditable, specialized experience must be at the GS-04 or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. OR four years above high school from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education (https:// ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) and in an appropriate field of study as described elsewhere in this announcement. OR a combination of experience and education equaling 100% of the qualifications. Additional information is available in the Group Coverage Qualifications Standards. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Examples of qualifying specialized experience: Providing customer service to employees, contractors, vendors, returned checks and credit card and debit card patrons. Preparing written responses to inquiries and correspondence requesting additional information related to customer service accounting, credit/debit card, checks and gift certificates. Researching void errors to debit/credit card transactions for retail organizations. Performing a variety of accounting duties involved in the administration of revolving and appropriated funds. Education Education used to qualify for this position must be from an accredited school or educational institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and a copy of your transcript is required as part of your application package. Additional Information Applicants with a Permanent Resident Card (aka Green Card) are authorized to live and work in the U.S. but are not eligible for employment in positions requiring U.S. citizenship. This position requires U.S. citizenship. The minimum age requirement is generally 18 years of age. Employing those under 18 may be possible under certain circumstances. Position requires access to personal/private sensitive but unclassified/controlled unclassified information the unauthorized disclosure of which could cause moderate damage to individuals, business entities; or government programs and operations. Access to ADP IT Level II systems is also required. Therefore, incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance eligibility based on appropriate background investigation. This position requires DOD-Financial Management Certification Program Level 1. You must possess this requirement or obtain certification within 2 years of appointment in accordance with NDAA FY 2012, Public Law 112-81
