Job Description

Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer, DCS (Starship) at SpaceX

Cape Canaveral, FL, United States

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SR. AUTOMATION & CONTROLS ENGINEER, DCS (STARSHIP)

SpaceX's Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket (collectively referred to as Starship) represent a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond. Starship will be the world's most powerful launch vehicle ever developed, with the ability to carry in excess of 100 metric tons to Earth orbit.

The Starship Sr. Automation & Control Engineer (DCS) role is a systems focused, multi-faceted position. The ideal engineer uses broad systems knowledge to inform the design of launch ground systems, support facilities, and test systems. The engineer is responsible for the systems that link operators to physical sensors and actuators on both ground systems as well as in-space test articles. This role provides operational support in the review and interpretation of data collected on these systems. SpaceX control engineers develop and integrate physical hardware including but not limited to wire harnesses, PCBs, custom enclosures, PLCs, data acquisition systems, and sensors. The DCS engineer's systems support operations that enable safe, economical, and reliable access to space.
