Job Summary
Dominion Energy is seeking an Engineering Technical Specialist I or II, to join the Digital and I&C Design Group at North Anna Power Station in Mineral, VA. The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The candidate considered for this role will have skills from entry level up to intermediate skills. Progressing to a higher level in the Engineering Technical Specialist Series as experience is gained. Performs moderate to complex work requiring demonstrated proficient technical skills and knowledge and experience within the functional area or specific engineering discipline. This role does not function as a technician in modifying, operating or maintaining systems or equipment.
- Provides technical support, direction and advice in analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment and programs.
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.
- Implements Digital design and Cyber Security technology within an engineering field.
- Focuses on the practical application of engineering theories; determines how to make the designs and plans of engineers work.
- Applies scientific and engineering principles and methods, along with technical skills, to support engineering activities.
- May perform some design and theoretical work, but does not possess the educational background to function as an engineer.
- May perform same work as titled Engineers, may hold a technical / associates degree or a degree that is that is not necessarily in the engineering disciplines. Years of similar experience will also be considered.
- May provide technical project management including scoping, scheduling, budget development.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Engineering Technical Specialist I - 0-2 years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline.
- Engineering Technical Specialist II - 3+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline.
- CAD or Drafting skills are a plus and are desired.
- Knowledge of engineering principals, theories and practices.
- Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Effective oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.
- Organization and project management skills.
- Proficient personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.
Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience. A Master's Degree will count as one year toward the years of experience.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above are encouraged to apply.
Education Requirements
Electrical Engineering degree is preferred. Other disciplines (such as Computer related) will be considered.
In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:
4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
