This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities and security operations acumen, with exceptional written and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of different security principles, underlying data analytics, and the ability to assimilate new methodologies and data sources. They will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, vocally self-critical, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. They will analyze large amounts of security data, discover and solve problems and build metrics and business cases to help security teams to make decisions.
The US ADC Security team is looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong SQL skills to define and standardize reporting mechanisms that currently vary or do not exist. This position will be responsible for working with the team to build reports and data visualizations that will drive insights into root causes of defects in security processes and help the process evolve through data driven decision making.
Key job responsibilities
Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format
Identify process and system improvement opportunities by monitoring existent metrics, analyzing data and partnering with internal teams
Design and develop automated reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions
Supporting cross-functional security teams on the day-to-day execution of the existent program implementation
Work with structured data in a traditional data storage environment
Pull the data needed with standard query syntax; periodically identify more advanced methods of query optimization, cross-checking data against other published sources to determine fidelity
Utilize basic data-manipulation tools
Derive actionable recommendations from analysis that impact a process or team
Convert data to make it analysis-ready through descriptions, aggregations, and pivots
Implement/deploy data visualization or communication tools (e.g., metrics dashboards, decks, flashes)

Basic Qualifications
8+ years of professional or military experience
5+ years of SQL experience
Experience with AWS technologies
Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Secret or above
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
