Make a difference for national security by leading a team of dedicated professionals in supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA) in developing and deploying the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) software development and hosting environment for the National Defense Space Architecture (NDSA). These systems establish software development capabilities to securely and rapidly field mission applications developed by BMC3 ecosystem participants in support of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives.

SAIC has an immediate need for a Field Service Engineer with software (SW) & hardware (HW) development, integration, operations and maintenance experience for space and ground systems. We are looking for an innovative and motivated individual to be SAIC's on-site representative to plan and execute testing, training, maintenance, and operate the BMC3 ground hardware and support NDSA operators. Our chosen representative work with the SDA operations team to assess, test and onboard code developed in legacy or external environments such that it meets the requirements for integration and deployment in the BMC3 ecosystem. Candidates must have experience with planning, executing and testing software developmental programs with demonstrated ability to lead the software development team in support of program management to meet customer milestones.

Primary responsibilities include :

  • The SDA BMC3 AppFac Field Service Engineer will support application development teams initiating their development within the AppFac (on-site) by guiding and assisting the BMC3 application developers in establishing DevSecOps tool pipelines.

  • Assess, test and onboard BMC3 application development teams that use other development environments assess, test, and onboard code so that it meets the security standards necessary for integration and deployment on BMC3.

  • Plan and execute testing, training, maintenance, operation of the BMC3 ground hardware and support NDSA operators at the SDA SNOC.

  • Support BMC3 Ecosystem DevSecOps CI/CD from the SDA SNOCs.

  • Operate the BMC3 Ground Hardware and BMC3 applications.

  • Perform testing of applications in Canary Operation.

  • Support SDA O&I and coordinate with BMC3 Application Developers during BMC3 Application anomaly response.

  • Creating and executing test plans and procedures, performing data collection and analysis, and authoringtest reports as required to support BMC3 AppFac, s/w and h/w testing.

  • Provides inputs into the labor, schedules, equipment and s/w required for testing.

  • Developing and briefing data packages that provide analysis results to inform the government decision-makers.

  • Collaborating with prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, and members of the Space Development Agency and U.S. Space Force.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and nine plus (9); master's degree and seven plus (7); PhD or JD and four plus (4) years of experience with systems engineering and test experience in space, ground, operations and sustainment segments of DoD, NSA, or NRO programs.

  • Proven delivery record with Systems engineering, testing, and integration experience with hardware and software systems.

  • DevSecOps experience. This will be critical as the BATL is a physical part of our application factory.

  • Single Board Computer (SBC) - Integration and Testing.

  • Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) - Integration and Testing.

  • Hardware in the Loop (HITL) - Design, Integration and Testing.

  • Software in the Loop (SITL) - Design, Integration and Testing.

  • Demonstrated experience working with Space Force/Air Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment, with space and/or ground systems.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based systems, operating systems, databases, networking, firewalls, Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) and host-based IDS and IPS.

  • Min. Top Secret clearance.
