The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) is looking to hire a qualified and experienced advanced practice provider (APP) to join a team of APPs as part of the medical intensive care unit (MICU) care team. This care team is usually supervised by an attending physician board certified in critical care medicine.
Excellent opportunity for a dynamic Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our highly trained team of Pulmonologists and Critical Care Intensivists. Our ACNP/PA will diagnose, treat, and manage disease, perform procedures, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, speak with patients/families about their conditions, and work well within a multidisciplinary care system.
The APP should expect to work in a highly supportive environment with experienced critical care physicians dedicated to providing the best care for patients and to teaching the next generation of physicians. The MICU is an inclusive environment with mutual respect for all team members. Open and respectful communication is expected.
Qualifications and Details
DEA with prescriptive authority required
Critical Care experience preferred
24/7 ICU coverage
Schedule will be developed amongst the team members
12 hour shifts 6 am 6 pm
Weekends included
No overnight call
Basic Responsibilities
Receiving verbal sign in information from the overnight team
Pre-rounding on all patients
Giving a structured presentation during daily multidisciplinary rounds in the MICU
Performing basic procedures such as placement of arterial lines, placement of central lines, thoracentesis, placement of chest tubes, lumbar punctures etc. based on demonstrated competence
Continuous communication with the bedside Nurse, ICU Pharmacist, Nutritionist, Respiratory therapist, Other Consultants, Case Managers etc.
Daily updates for patients and their families
In person sign out to overnight team
