Job Summary
The Installation Specialist:
- Assists in the installation of natural gas appliances, meters, and facilities in an efficient and safe manner while achieving excellent customer service
- Uses Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to distribute and route work orders to computers mounted in company vehicles
- Lights gas pilots on natural gas residential and/or commercial appliances
- Completes minor appliance repairs
- Runs customer fuel lines
- Safely drives a company vehicle
- Completes appropriate paperwork in writing and on the computer
This position reports to the Apex Operations Center in Apex, North Carolina.
There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.
- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Trainee Service (0-6 months)
Installation Specialist IV (18 months) *highest level an applicant can be hired.
- Must have knowledge and skills with common hand and power tools.
- Effective communication skills for customer interactions and a willingness to work with others in a diverse team environment.
- Basic computer skills are key.
- Ability to work in enclosed areas such as crawl spaces, basements, and attics.
- Ability to work on elevated areas such as roofs and utilize ladders, scaffolding and lifts.
- Ability to serve as an emergency responder
- Availability for overtime and after-hours, on-call work.
- Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Apex area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for the Company and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement, including when on-call.
- Ability to adhere to safe working and driving procedures.
- Occasional heavy lifting up to 80 lbs. independently.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience :
- A demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures.
- A good mechanical aptitude.
- A demonstrated ability to use and comprehend mathematical calculations and formulas.
- Bilingual (Spanish) candidates .
Education Requirements
Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
Other Working Conditions
Work is performed in customer's premise, as well as, outside in varying weather conditions.
Position works around fumes, energized wires, dust/grease/oil, and in confined spaces.
Position works in enclosed areas such as crawl spaces, basements, and attics, as well as, elevated areas such as roofs and utilize ladders, scaffolding and lifts.
Position may encounter agitated/upset customers.
