Job Description

Title: WAREHOUSE WORKER - PT - NAS - EARLY MORNINGS REQUIRED Location: United States-Florida-Pensacola Job Number: 230003YL Job Summary Responsible for a warehouse storage area where highly pilferable material is stored, with responsibility for receiving, storing, shipping and warehousing of resale items. Duties and Responsibilities - Assumes responsibility for the receipt and storage of designated security and highly pilferable material. Checks receipt document and/or Transportation Control Number (TCN) against merchandise received for accuracy. Distributes and stages merchandise according to TCN destination or location store. Prepares necessary shipping documents as to description of item, number of pieces, weight and other identifying information; obtains signatures when freight changes hands; inspects items received for evidence of pilferage or other damage; refers discrepancies such as shortages, overages or damages to supervisor for appropriate action and prepares necessary reports of deficiencies. May perform various tasks involved in the preparation and control of chargeback for such items as overstocked, old age, slow moving, damaged and/or highly pilfer able merchandise. - Maintains necessary logs and assigns control number to pertinent documents. Normally, movement of material is done by hand cart, conveyor or similar type conveyance. Incumbent may be required to operate a forklift on occasion. - Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who provides instructions as to procedures, priorities and policies. Is relied upon to control and maintain warehouse operations and to insure smooth and adequate flow and storage of items stored. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical use of personnel, equipment, materials and methods to meet objective. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Is required to lift 45 to 75 pounds and carry short distances; heavier material will be transported by forklift equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside warehouses, in cages, and outdoors. The areas may be cold, drafty, damp or hot. Is exposed to the possibility of injury from falling or dropping stock, and cuts, bruises, lacerations. - Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE Eighteen months experience performing warehousing related duties such as receiving storing issuing shipping operation of manual material movement equipment etc. or similar work that provided the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Walks stoops bends and stands for a long period of time. May lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40lbs and sometimes over 50lbs with assistance. Uses push carts to transport merchandise. Climbs ladders to pull stock stock shelves and bins. Uses sharp instrument to break open boxes.
