Cracker Barrel is on the search for an experienced food service superstar with a knack for food styling and a knowledge of food safety to join the Culinary Operations team at our Home Office.
This position is responsible for providing tactical support for the development of new menu items, promotional products and annual programs including operational testing and implementation. At the direction of supervisor, this individual will prepare recipes in the new product development process. They will also prepare products received from suppliers and participates in evaluation of those products; provide all product organization for food photography and commercial shoots; assists in providing guidance on accurate recreation of Cracker Barrel food by the production team; and organize recipes, food, and all accompanying pieces for delivery to shoot locations.
- Assist in the creation/development of recipes from conceptualization through implementation and for product presentations (Menu Team, Steering Committee, PD/Supplier Product reviews) along with any special functions.
- Regular execution of food production for the Culinary Operations and Culinary Innovation teams
- Provide support to teams and be a collaborative partner for various cross-functional groups
- Includes ordering of ingredients, management of supplier samples, maintaining proper rotation of inventory. Responsible for maintaining the professional appearance of the test kitchen.
- Organizes recipes, food, and all accompanying pieces for delivery to shoot locations
- When needed, is present live, on-set for all food photography shoots, and TV commercial shoots
- Maintains up to date awareness of CBOCS operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years work experience in food service production.
- 1-2 years experience participating in photo / TV shoots
- Cracker Barrel or external multi-unit chain experience preferred
- General knowledge and understanding of food service industry trends.
- Food styling experience is a plus
- Familiarity with consumer research (trends, methodology, etc.).
- General knowledge of proper food safety (handling and storage) and service techniques; general understanding of quality assurance.
- General knowledge of CBOCS restaurant equipment and both operational cooking platforms.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams
