SAIC is looking for a Navy Business Group (NBG) Chief Engineer who is passionate about helping our customers build field solutions that meet current and future maritime challenges. Our NBG Chief Engineer must be an experienced technologists with technical breadth and depth coupled with strong interpersonal skills. As NBG Chief Engineer, you will work directly with some of our largest and fastest growing customers as well as the account leaders and program managers to ensure continuous and repeatable deployment of innovative technology solutions. Our NBG Chief Engineer will lead development of capabilities and solutions and provide prescriptive guidance across application of maritime based solutions. Additionally, the NBG Chief Engineer will ensure engineering tools, processes and human resources are poised and trained to deliver solutions to the customer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of large-scale distributed hardware and software solutions, and experience leading deep architecture discussions, and hands on experience. You will partner with growth professional to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient solutions and architectures that address the Department of the Navy's (DoN) problems and accelerate the adoption of our services and capabilities.
Roles and responsibilities
Ensure customer success in designing, building and capabilities and solutions from SAIC
Lead deep architectural discussions and design exercises to create world-class solutions built on SAIC's capabilities while ensuring those solutions are designed for successful deployment across the DoN
Ensure engineering excellence within the NBG to include training, tools, and standard engineering practices
In partnership with the growth team, formulate, and execute an NBG innovation roadmap aligned to the needs of the DoN
Build deep relationships with senior leadership and technical individuals within the DoN to enable them to meet mission objectives
Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst SAIC solutions architect community
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 18 years experience; education may be considered in lieu of a degree
10+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in solutions development or infrastructures
6+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data, and analytics)
7-10+ years design, implementation, or consulting experience with distributed applications
5+ years of experience in application, infrastructure, database, and networking architectures
Experience working with external customers (pre-sales, consulting, technology/software sales)
Technical degree required; Engineer or Software background desired
Experience with development of technical roadmaps
Experience developing the engineering capability, competency, and agility of a 200M+/annual engineering organization
Preferred qualifications
Hands on working knowledge of solution development tools and methodologies
Experience architecting/operating solutions for the DoN
Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to help with obsolesce
Communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with Navy Leadership
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
Willingness to travel up to 30%
