EEE Component Engineer, Satellite Bus (Starlink) at SpaceX

EEE COMPONENT ENGINEER, SATELLITE BUS (STARLINK)
As a component engineer on the Starlink hardware development team you will be responsible for component selection, reliability, and data management of electronic components for satellites, ground stations, and consumer products. You will evaluate new components, design reliability test campaigns, and maintain component library supporting all Starlink products. You will interface closely with our hardware development and supply chain teams to enable rapid product development of innovative and reliable electronics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate new electronic components for use in satellite, ground station, and consumer products.
Develop automation for component library management, component parametric information, and supply chain integration.
Perform failure analysis and drive root cause investigations and corrective actions for component related issues.
Optimize the Starlink system by driving design component commonality and reuse.
Execute up-screening campaigns to determine suitability of commercial electronics for the space mission environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineer or related engineering field
Experience with taking an electronic design through schematic capture, PCB layout, and bring-up
Demonstrated projects or experience in one or more of the following areas: semiconductor physics, physics of failure, accelerated testing, design for reliability, EEE component design
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with basic failure analysis tools and methods (X-ray, Cross-section, Polishing)
Familiarity with fundamental of reliability engineering and accelerated stress testing
Familiarity with a variety of different package types (TSOP, BGA, QFN, etc.)
Experience with radiation effects testing of electronics
Advanced understanding of manufacturing systems for electronic components
Experience performing failure analysis and destructive physical analysis investigations to provide corrective actions and paths to closure
Knowledge of accelerated test profiles for component-level screening and qualification testing
Experience with SQL and/or Python
