NDE Level II Inspector, Radiography Testing (RT) - Travel (2nd Shift) at SpaceX

NDE LEVEL II INSPECTOR, RADIOGRAPHIC TESTING (RT) - TRAVEL (2ND SHIFT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform volumetric NDE inspections with advanced radiographic techniques: traditional analogue, computed and digital

  • Perform surface NDE inspections with dye penetrant and visual inspection methods

  • Interpret, evaluate, communicate and report findings to production and engineering

  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required

  • Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries

  • Assist in training and developing others within the team

  • Support research and development of system qualification and certification for critical processes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 2+ years of experience as a level II non-destructive evaluation/testing inspector

  • NDE level II certification in line with ASNT TC-1A/NAS-410 guidance in radiography (RT)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Radiation safety training/certification with IRRSP X-ray card (X-ray)

  • Computed or direct digital certification

  • 3+ months of experience performing radiography inspection with a X-ray tube head

  • Experience evaluating weld quality inspections with computed or digital radiography

  • Experience performing NDE testing within the aerospace industry

  • Knowledge developing computed or digital radiography inspection techniques

  • Experience handling imaging plates and operating computed radiography scanners and digital detector array panels

  • Knowledge of Carestream, DURR, or YXLON inspection equipment

  • NDE level II certification in line with NAS410 guidance in dye penetrant (PT) and visual inspection (VT)

  • Certified weld inspector status (CWI)

  • Experience inspecting advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, precipitation hardened steels, Inconel, titanium and maraging steel (super alloys)

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

  • Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards

  • Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, etc.

  • Problem solving tools and techniques: practical problem solving (PPS), Eight Disciples (8D)

  • Basic understanding of lean principles: 5S, kaizen, continuous improvement initiatives

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work 2nd shift: 6am - 6pm

  • Able and willing to travel to other SpaceX sites (up to 100%)

  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, and walk

  • Available to work overtime and weekends as required
