This individual will promote and protect Cracker Barrel's reputation by planning and executing communications projects and activities that influence external audiences, that support the growth of restaurant traffic and retail sales, and that position the company advantageously in traditional and social media. This individual will also support senior management in executing the Communications Strategy that has been approved by our Executive Team.
- Analyze and recommend proactive communication opportunities that will enhance and protect CBOCS brand, image, and reputation with media, guests, and diverse audiences. Manage events and projects, design press kits for specific topics. Gather, write, and edit positive corporate news for posting on CBOCS website and through social media. Develop and maintain corporate communications collateral, including standard corporate news releases, tailored news releases, fact sheets, executive biographies, photos, press kits.
- Serve as #2 for managing urgent media inquiries when Sr. Director, Corporate Communications is out of town. Handle local-market crisis or sensitive media inquiries, and routine media inquiries such as for new unit openings. Partner with other departments to communicate to local market media about new units, local store anniversaries, CBOCS Foundation grants and scholarships, to develop and pitch story ideas related to restaurant and retail products, and promote winners of operations awards (e.g. RVP of the year). Supervise production and distribution of local store manager promotion news releases. Usher all materials through approval process. Manage online relational database for media relations information research and retrieval. Define, generate, and analyze reports on activity and news coverage and provide quarterly updates. Develop strategies for improving regional coverage based on reports. Research online articles, supervise clip coverage and distribution.
- Monitor and report on social media reputation challenges; recommend and implement strategies/actions to counter negative and enhance positive commentary. Gather, write, and edit positive corporate news for distribution through social media.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field and 7-10 years experience in corporate communications, public relations and/or media position. In addition, some journalism experience is preferred.
