Job Summary
The Mechanic-Auto B position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections, handling major and minor repairs to company vehicles and equipment to include but not limited to: service trucks, power operated equipment, backhoes, trailers, etc.; fabricating vehicle and equipment accessories; building and customizing vehicles and equipment with a variety of parts to manufacturer and customer specifications to include but not limited to: wiring components, plumbing hydraulics, fabricating components, drilling and cutting to properly mount components, and interpreting schematics.
This position is located in Charleston, South Carolina.
The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
At least 3 years of experience as an auto and/or truck mechanic and experience working with power operated equipment required.
Must have detailed knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules, automotive systems, internal combustion engines, vehicle design and composition, and test equipment and proper use of equipment.
Must be self-motivated, be able to work independently and as a team member.
Must be able to demonstrate ability to work safely and environmentally knowledgeable; bucket or line truck experience and hydraulic experience strongly preferred.
Must be able to diagnose and perform major and minor repairs to all systems of internal combustion engines including diesels.
Must be able to perform diagnostic activities for electronic computer contracted systems.
Must be able to maintain and repair a variety of company power operated equipment.
Knowledge and skills on fiberglass and light body repair a plus.
Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, sit, stand, walk, push/pull, handle objects (manual dexterity), reach above shoulder level, maintain balance, use fine finger movements, and lift or carry loads up to and over 50lbs.
Education Requirements
Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
Class A Commercial Drivers License within 6 months of hire/transfer.
ASE Certification a Plus.
Certified welder a plus.
