Overview
This is a production position. We are looking for a hard-working, career-minded person who is as excited about blogging as we are! We need an experienced person who understands blogging strategies and who not only knows how to create great content, but also knows how to leverage social media platforms to share and distribute that content. This unique position requires a person who understands the essential parts of successful blogging campaigns and can make a difference in a fast paced, high energy environment.
Reporting to the Director of Web Services, this position will be responsible for blog content development, optimization and marketing that increases traffic and engagement. They will also be adding content to, updating content on and optimizing content on the existing websites across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
BLOG CONTENT - Responsible for creating and/or editing all content/copy updates on various forward facing web blogs various CMS and web development platforms.
CONTENT CREATION - Create, edit, publish and promote all blogging operations and initiatives.
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO) - fully understand how SEO affects blog traffic and engagement, and apply best SEO practices to all blog articles created, edited, and published.
SOCIAL MEDIA - Leverage existing social media platforms to maximize exposure and engagement for the blog articles created, work closely with the Social Media Coordinator to ensure brand messaging, engagement and growth of the online community.
ANALYTICS & REPORTING - Report blog performance metrics including traffic flow, engagement, bounce rate, content performance and other KPI's as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Experience in basic Website Design & Development programming using any of these platforms: WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, HTML, CSS, etc.
Experience with Hubspot tools and/or philosophy
Experience posting to professional (non-personal) social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.
Professional Blogging or Blog Editing experience (1-5 years)
Skills/Abilities
An analytical mind and interest in using data to optimize strategy and tactics.
Excellent organizational skills to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to adopt the style, tone, and voice of our university and our audience.
