The Sr Architect, Solutions within the T-Mobile Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) organization will be responsible for connecting business strategy and process to the underlying technology enablers across the Finance Record to Report and Business Performance Management process areas. This leader will heavily influence and drive thought leadership across technology, data, and process for these end-to-end process areas. They will be a key influencer throughout a new transformation program to set technical direction, connect data flows, optimize integrations and controls, and enable process between applications within the Record to Report and Business Performance Management flows. This Sr Architect must be comfortable leading change through ambiguity, gaining buy-in through influence and negotiation, partnering with a broad internal and external team, and driving through leadership throughout the team.
What you'll do in your role.
Strategy
Influence and negotiate prioritization of delivery across numerous ETS teams to support continuing improvements in Record to Report and Business Performance Management architecture and business processes
Understand the end-to-end architecture and the business processes supported by technology; contribute to setting strategy for continuous improvement of process enabled by technology
Make and implement complex decisions aimed at improving the quality, effectiveness, or ability to achieve revenue, profitability, process optimization, and strategic goals for the organization
Serve as the lead or contributing architect on multiple strategic projects presenting and driving architectural design decisions for T-Mobile systems
Connect business strategies to technology domains for delivery, leveraging well-defined structure of T-Mobile business processes, products, and capabilities
Act as innovation evangelist by being a thought leader in the application and scaling of technical ideas; utilize separate technologies, assets, and vertical departments to optimize the flow of products and services through entire value streams
Develop, sponsor, or support the introduction of new and improved methods, products, procedures, or technologies
Work cross-functionally to understand the linkage between T-Mobile's business goals and technology architecture
Architecture & Technology
Provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of business and technical architecture to effectively support business strategy
Review and identify risks and gaps in the architecture and solution designs; assess and define remediation efforts or mitigation options for technical and process improvement
Drive to practical solutions considering teams, initiatives, technology, and long-term outlook
Lead and support the technical design of data flows crossing multiple platforms; consider end-to-end architecture of capabilities, data movement, and reporting
Partner across numerous IT domains and platform owners to set and/or influence architecture and technology decisions
Recommend technology direction in collaboration with vendors, delivery teams and business
Understand the full end-to-end architecture and data flows across the Record to Report and Business Performance Management processes to determining opportunities for optimization and prioritization of system enhancements
Perform and guide rapid enterprise assessment of project and product requests
Apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the business unit in the context of the enterprise
Identify impacts and competing interests across all domains
Develop business architecture artifacts including current state architecture diagrams, future state architecture diagrams, roadmaps, mapping to capability models and process frameworks, business process flows, and metadata
Participate in technology identification activities, including RFPs with technology vendors, and interactions with upstream and downstream technologies to support business process transformation
Collaborate with applicable business control groups and ETS Controls group to design preventative control landscape across data flows and platforms; ensure monitoring is in place for operational and SOX controls
Partner with our Enterprise Data Services (EDS) organization to enable data accessibility and analytics for our numerous business partners
Provide thought leadership on architecture trends and understand trade-offs between solution options
The experience you'll bring.
Experience and education requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or related; Master's degree a plus
Preferred Six Sigma/Lead experience or Certified Business Architect
4+ years of relevant work experience in technology and/or business architect roles
Additional requirements:
Ability to communicate complex business architecture concepts in a straightforward way that demonstrates practical application and value to both business and IT
Experience in modelling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
Ability to articulate the relationship between business strategy and technology strategy
Strong understanding of and extensive experience with software development delivery methods (waterfall, iterative, agile) and tools preferred
Excellent business and technical communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to convey results in a persuasive manner and at the appropriate level of detail
Knowledge about telecommunications industry, business processes, strategic technologies and industry leading practices
Experience with SAP S4/Hana or Oracle Cloud ERP a plus
Experience in FP&A platforms including OneStream, Hyperion, SAP BPC or SAC, IBM TM1, or Anaplan a plus
Experience in technologies enabling Finance departments a plus
Understanding of control design and documentation, and SOX compliance
Strong organizational skills to manage, prioritize and execute on competing activities
Ability to negotiate between teams and reach consensus and support
At least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma or GED
