What You Will Be Doing

The position is a hands-on aerospace-engineering hardware-focused test technician located within the E&T Labs department.

The primary job responsibility is the mechanical test and evaluation of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts and assemblies, and production parts and assemblies in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.

Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved.

When necessary to conduct the request, new testing methods are evaluated and standard processes developed.

The test results are reported, reviewed as required with the supervisor or manager, and then communicated to the customer.

Additional duties may include the design of test fixtures and equipment to enable various mechanical tests and/or sample configurations.

Basic Qualifications:

- High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks and 5 years or more of experience.

- Demonstrated proficiency with the calibration and safe operation of universal mechanical testing equipment.

- Working knowledge of ASTM specifications for mechanical testing of materials including tensile, shear, torsion, and compression testing.

- Experience with different methods of instrumenting parts to measure strain including extensometers and strain gauges.

- Proficient in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite-centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, and basic data transfer.

- Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.

- Able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Desired Skills:

- Experience with Instron universal testing equipment and Bluehill 3 software package.

- Experience with Charpy impact testing.

- Capable of scheduling, de-conflicting, and executing multiple technical activities concurrently.

- Current DoD Secret clearance.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
