CLEANING/GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER - House of Blues

Job Summary:

THE ROLE:

Responsible for keeping the venue safe and clean and perform a variety of cleaning tasks before, during and after venue events, safely operating all equipment, and displaying a positive customer service attitude.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Keep walkways and guest-facing areas free of trash, debris and trip hazards by picking up litter (cups, aluminum cans, paper, cardboard, etc.) and depositing in the appropriate receptacle.

  • Sweep, mop and/or vacuum floors; remove standing water and dry up wet flooring/pavement to prevent slip and fall injuries.

  • Wash and sanitize toilets, toilet stalls and showers using cleaning solutions and disinfectants; clean mirrors and windows; stock restroom areas with toilet paper, paper towels and soap as needed.

  • Clean dirt, stains, cobwebs, etc., from exterior walls, countertops, lighting fixtures and seats; scrape gum and decals from floors, walls, seats, poles, etc.

  • Remove full liners from trash receptacles and replace with new liners; push carts with bags of trash to the compactor and deposit bags into the compactor.

  • Separate recycling materials into proper containers and disinfect containers.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties, including using a power washer or backpack blower to clean concrete and blacktop areas.

  • Detect and report maintenance problems, faulty operations, defective material and unusual or unsafe situations to Manager.

  • Safely operate golf carts within the venue to transport tools, equipment, supplies and trash.

  • Interact with guests, co-workers and vendors in a positive, friendly, courteous and direct manner.

  • Understand and comply with all safety regulations

  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas

  • Other tasks assigned by the Facilities Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must present unexpired original document(s) establishing identity and authorization to work in the United States

  • A clear pre-employment criminal background check is required

  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Have a positive customer service attitude and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Position requires constant walking, climbing stairs, bending, carrying and lifting 50+ lbs.

  • Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy

  • Must be highly motivated, able to work independently and follow directions.

  • Must present a well-groomed appearance

  • Reliable transportation required

  • Must attend in-person employee orientation and complete required online training modules
