Goodwin William Staffing is seeking a CMT Technician to help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect the contractor's work and perform basic field soil and concrete tests under the direction of other technicians or engineering professionals to verify the work is performed in accordance with project specifications. All inspections/observations and test data will be input on smart phones/tablets in the field for immediate transmittal to designated Project Managers for review.Essential Job Duties -Including but not limited to:Performing field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concretePreparing detailed and thorough field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations providedPerforming laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of the resultsEvaluating site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and provide recommendationsCommunicating with clients and contractors as well as engineering and technician staff regarding construction issuesCompany cell phone and tablet providedUse of company vehicle for every day onsite travelJob Locations:iCharlottesville and Waynesboro areasTypical Work Hours:6/7AM - 3PM, Ability to Work OvertimeJob Type:iFull-timePay:$14.00+ per hour, DOEiRequirements:Prior construction or field testing experience preferredACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, or ICC certifications in the disciplines of soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry are a plusAbility to multi-task and meet deadlinesMust be able to work independently and within teams to achieve goalsMust be detail orientedAbility to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsGood problem solving skills and can deal with a variety of variables at onceAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field and to perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipmentMust be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the dayMust be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70lbs on a regular basisMust be willing to participate in and pass pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving recordRequires a valid, clean drivers license, as travel to job sites is requiredMust continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid drivers license to fulfill travel requirements of this positionA High School Diploma (or equivalent)
