Job Summary

This position, located in Cayce, South Carolina, will assist Dominion Energy South Carolina's (DESC's) Electric Transmission Support group in carrying out its various responsibilities with a primary focus on interconnection of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and other generation. Other areas include, but are not limited to, administration of DESC's Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), wholesale transmission customer service and billing, financial reporting and interfacing with various stakeholders throughout DESC.

Generation Interconnection responsibilities include interfacing with interconnecting generation customers during the application and study processes, while under construction, and during commercial operations. Responsibilities also include managing databases, utilizing and managing online software, collaborating with internal stakeholders throughout the interconnection process, and creating and interpreting contracts, agreements, policies and procedures. The successful candidate will interface extensively with representatives of the interconnecting generators, numerous stakeholders throughout DESC, and lead interconnection site inspections and testing.

Responsibilities also include assisting the Manager - Electric Transmission Support with other duties of the Department to include customer billing, NERC Operator Training, financial reporting, OATT administration, transmission customer service and regulatory compliance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Organization (NERC) and the Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer II

3 or more years of relevant engineering experience in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.

Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory.

Solar farm construction experience would be a plus.

Experience with project management, software programming, the wholesale electric industry, FERC regulation, NERC regulation, and DESC's OATT is also preferred. Candidates must be strong with Microsoft Excel and proficient in other Microsoft applications to include SharePoint, Word, and PowerPoint. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following: successful project management, taking initiative, a high level of organization, attention to detail, and working both independently and collaboratively. Candidates must also be able to read and analyze contracts, regulatory orders and policies, spreadsheets and other documents for the purpose of developing procedures and processes.

Engineer III

5 or more years of relevant engineering experience in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering.

Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
