Job Description

Title: MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR Location: United States-Texas-Corpus Christi Job Number: 2200018A Job Summary: Operates a motor vehicle having a gross vehicle weight up to 10000 lbs to pick up andor deliver food and other suppplies on public roads highways and on military installations. Duties and Responsibilities: Operates a motor vehicle such as sedan jeep station wagon carryall pick up truck i.e. vehicles of up to and including 10000 pounds and capable of carrying loads weighing up to and including 1 ton on military installations and public roads for long and short hauls. Completes trip ticket fills out drivers accident report in case of accident. Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle or vehicle being utilized for that days work. Loads and unloads vehicle using handcart palletjack forklift etc. ensuring care is taken to prevent damage. Installs merchandise in customers homes. May pickup and deliver home furnishings and related items to customers homes. Assembles furniture prior to delivery or in customers homes using common handtools. May repair minor damage to furniture using stain glues etc May transportdeliver food items to patrons homes. Collects payment and makes change as necessary. Observes all sanitary safety fire and traffic regulations. Exercises tact and courtesy when assisting and dealing with customers. Receives and checks incoming merchandise. Checks receiving documents against merchandise to insure receipt and accuracy of count etc. Signs for and obtains receipt for merchandise as required opens inspects and counts to insure that loads conform to receipts and notes overages shortages or damaged merchandise and reports to supervisor. Prepares storage location for new merchandise and places in bin and arranges on shelves. May perform warehousing duties associates with the receipt storage and issue of resale merchandise. May assist in moving merchandise in the showroom for display purposes. Receives merchandise transfer from locations and selects merchandise for delivery to sales locations. Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Light physical effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle and moderate effort may be required in frequent handling or lifting objects weighing 40 lbs or occasionally heavier with assistance. Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment hooks must be lifted and properly secured. WORKING CONDITIONS Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading or unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving in all types of weather on public roads is subject to cuts bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or unloadingloading vehicles. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Based on NEX business unit requirements a valid State drivers license or CDL class and endorsement are required where applicable as cited below. 2. Where applicable must possess a valid state commercial drivers license CDL with either a class C for any size vehicle which may be used to transport hazardous materials or above. 3. Where applicable must possess a H endorsement on the CDL which permits drivers to transport hazardous material HazMats. 4. Must meet Department of Transportation DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a preemployment drug screening. TRAINING REQUIREMENT Associate must receive HazMat training within 90 days of hire per DOT regulations. Successful completion of a preemployment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activitycommand Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of operating a motor vehicle to transport items to and from various locations. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of operating a motor vehicle such as a pickup truck sedan carryall i.e. vehicles up to 10000 pounds to transport items to and from various location and based on NEX business unit requirements Possession of valid state drivers license or valid state commercial drivers license CDL class C for any size vehicle used to transport hazardous materials. H endorsement on CDL permitting driver to transport hazardous material HazMats. Ability to meet Department of Transportation DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a preemployment drug screening.
